I used this kit to replace the foam surround on a circa 1988 12" Velodyne subwoofer. The old foam literally disintegrated when touched. The instructions were very clear and the online videos by the company very helpful. I used a variety of tools to scrape off the old foam and adhesive including a 1/2" chisel, utility knife, and small screen driver. The most delicate part is removing the old material from the cone edge. I followed the video and used my finger to smooth the provided adhesive around the new surround. However, if I were to do it again, I'd probably put a piece of tape on my finger or use some type of applicator. The adhesive begins to set quickly and it was difficult to properly place the surround with sticky fingers. My repaired speaker is now working as good as new. This kit makes what seems like a difficult job reasonably easy. Very pleased.

I had given up on my Velodyne subwoofer (from the 90s) until I stumbled on this product and the web site. I wish I had known a little better - the Velodyne speaker being a servo control has extra fine wires that are connected to the cone. I had to struggle with it when reconnecting. as I had cut the wires a bit too close to the wires cone. I am glad I was able to fix it finally with some struggles. Plus centering the cone is very important.- Probably will never get the original performance. Nevertheless, I believe I breadth some life to those speakers. Plus the seller was understanding - I had inadvertently ordered two of these and used the extra adhesive they let it go and refunded for the extra piece.

Perfect fit for my 1988 Velodyne 12" sub that cost me around a $1000 when I bought it. I thought it was toast (had not used it in years) but after repairing the driver with this product bamm....it sounds as good as ever!Thanks Simply Speakers for a great product at a great price!!Tom

I don't have a lot to say about this, but for a Velodyne repair, it is flawless. Easy for you to put in and probably saved between $800 and $1000 to have it re-coned. Velodyne is THE standard by which direct radiator subs can be judged and this was a wonderful repair. I recommend it highly. Thanks for reading.
