I gave it three stars because I can see that they are sturdy. It’s just that they’re SO heavy and ugly-looking to me. They remind me of the heavy and ugly roller skates I used to strap on to my shoes when I was a kid (yes, I’m dating myself).Anyway, I’m going on eBay to look for some brake levers that are from a vintage bicycle. My beautiful 1970’s Peugeot deserves beauty.

I liked the price and retro appeal to go with my Surly Cheater handlebar (flat mountain bike bar like) but it just didn't work out. I guess retro means no engineering in the product and leaving out any helpful features brakes have adapted over time. I could live without the fine adjustment typically found at the brake lever. And having to cut off the cable end crimp to completely remove the cable from the housing to install it on the brake lever. And I could live with the loss of cable travel pulling ability due to the straight handle that hits the handle bar too soon. But the deal breaker was the brake does not butt-up next to my handlebar grips. My drive train is a 1x11 and my shifter needs to be close to the handgrip. The Velo lever's housing protrudes about 15mm past the clamp meaning there is a gap between the lever's clamp and the my handgrip. That places the my shifter further to the handlebar center which doesn't work for me. But otherwise a nice product.

I was updating a vintage 1980s bike and need period polished aluminum brake levers. Instead of scouting from junk yards during the pandemic I opted to order these new production brake levers. They are vintage Dia-Comp style brake levers that fit perfectly on the bike that has mostly Dia-comp components. 5 stars.

Great value! Work perfectly and look great. If you need classic, simple levers, these are for you.

Put them on my bicycle. Works fine, grippy, squeaks a little but not really an issue. Minimal packaging, keeps the vintage vibe with my old bicycle which is what I wanted.

I thought these might work for my cruiser project. I was trying to do it on the cheap. They looked OK in the pictures. In person I knew instantly I would return them. I will say that the clamps are actually nice, but the levers themselves are lacking. The old school Weinmann levers have a nylon bushing inside that the lever rests on. With these the lever rests on the "through bolt". Looking at the bottom of the lever, it is obvious that the lever is a bloated copy of the old school levers with the proportions just a hair off. The rivets are rounded on one side and not so much on the other. I realize this is nitpicking, but hey, "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to." All I know is that I would notice these things every single time I looked at my bike and it would not make me happy. I do bike stuff to make me happy. I happily found an NOS set of old school levers with the classy gold dot on the side, paid twice as much, but I am now happy every time I look at my bike. Nuff said.

Nice style and they work. Kinda jank feeling and construction. Gentrified brake levers fir less are superior but don't have the classic look.

I converted my older Bianchi into a fixed gear / townie hybrid and these worked really well with converting the early 90's single pivot road calipers (Shimano Exage) to be used with Wald 1066 Hi-Rise handlebar. I also own a vintage KHS townie and these are virtually the same ones on those. All metal construction; really nice feel when compressing. If you want to brake aggressively, I would probably stay away from these just because the curved area for your fingers only fits about 3, maybe 4. Since I'm using it for cruising, it works out great.
