Feature
- Set-Screw type drill stop is suitable to use on a shaft softer than the set screw.
- Slide the stop ring onto an unhardened shaft and tighten the set screw, the set screw would bite into the shaft and hold it.
- This type of drill bit stop features great torque capacity and holding power.
Notes
- In order to maximize the holding power, the shaft must be softer than the set screw.
- Tightening the set screws will cause damage to the surface of the shaft, which is an inevitable disadvantage. Please do not move it after locking. To prevent this, small flats are often added under the set screw.
Application
- The drill stop is suitable for low axial loads and simple positioning. Applications that require repositioning or high axial loads are not applicable.
- Can be used to limit the movement of a shaft and retain power transmission components such as sprockets, pulleys, and bearings.

Keeping bit depth during bit changes is tricky. I use these to set a perfect depth every time. All of my bits have one. No more trying to find the approximate depth. Quick changes mean less time carving.

These stop collars are very durable and hold their position on the drill bit very well. I use these for dowel joinery. Best of all, you get 4 of these in a set.

These stop collars work great. They are just the size I needed, but they do NOT come with an Allen wrench. The Allen wrench that came with similar stop collars did NOT fit these stop collars. So, unless your Allen wrench set has at least a dozen different sizes, you may not have the right Allen wrench to install these. Hey, what better reason to buy a better set of Allen wrenches.
