I suppose you don't have to travel to use these but that's why I picked them up. They go very well with my little mini rechargeable 510 thread battery. The battery I'm actually using this with requires you to heat up the tips three times. When you push the power button on the battery it only stays on for 10 seconds. It takes three 10-second cycles to get the tip up to around 300°f or more.Once you reach whatever temperature you're shooting for, holding down the power button maintains that temperature when soldering. If you're not quick you may have to push the power button a couple times while you're soldering but that's not a big deal to me. The fact I can fit a soldering iron in my pocket is awesome and very handy for remote locations where I can't just plug it us out right now or maybe it's difficult to use a gas-powered soldering iron.I did try these tips with a bigger battery. It seems that between 9 and 12 watts is the highest you probably want to go. You could potentially push it further than that but I wouldn't. Even 12 Watts might be a little too high. These tips seem to be able to go to 420° before they burn out internally. I had to sacrifice one of them out of a set just so I knew what they could do.They're not for everyone though, so if you're thinking of giving them as a gift. Make sure you don't care if they end up going in a drawer and never being used. I gave them to an electronics buddy of mine that I thought would absolutely love it. He doesn't like having to cycle it three times to heat it up. Even though his wired soldering iron takes longer to heat up he would rather get out an extension cord if he needed to then have to cycle this three times. To each their own. He did ask if he could give it to someone else he knows and that person happens to think it's incredibly handy lol.. their words not mine.I wouldn't plan on using these as my daily driver soldering tips but they're certainly handy and a pinch and extremely handy I think in remote locations for some situations.

fine tip burnt out fast used once already trashed. Doubt I would purchase again as these tips cost way too much

Such an awesome accessory. A bit wonky until you get then tightened correctly but they're manufactured much like t12 tips so they heat up in seconds.

Nice collection of tips mine all work fine. The cost seems high compared to the fact that you can buy the whole soldering iron for a dollar more but that only comes with one tip and like mine the tip burned out in like five minutes. And also it’s only the point tip this has a hot knife and the point and chisel. So I found it more useful. And besides who needs a bunch of soldering iron handles laying around.

I bought a "battery powered" solderiing iron. It's an EVOD e-cig.They didn't remove the 5-second cut-off from the firmware.I bought these, and use them with a 100-Watt adjustable, dual battery "box mod" e-cig with a "510" style fitting.Much better! They work quite well.
