does not fit tight enough to hold water

I can not find a strainer that works with my sink and collects the most debris. This is a strainer even my 14-year-old can install just take it out of the box and place it in the drain. Easy pasey. I like that I can push down to fill the sink and pop it up again to drain the water. I like that the strainer fits most sinks without any issues. I like the stainless steel look of the strainer and for the price you can buy several for all your drains. It is also easy to clean and with a brush, it makes removing any debris in the strainer a quick task.

I’m on a septic system so avoid the garbage disposal and try as much as possible to keep every little scrap from going down the drain. Until now, I’ve used a perforated stainless steel basket-type strainer, and it’s worked well enough, but it’s been inconvenient to exchange it for a stopper when I wanted to fill the sink with water, it sometimes overfills with scraps and blocks the flow of water down the drain. Enter this particular sink strainer, which I love for how it ingeniously does everything I need to have done without any switcheroos or sink stoppages! The basket is much smaller than my previous strainer, but that’s fine because it makes me empty it sooner. The open/close function (just pressing the button in the middle) keeps the drain open even when the basket fills to capacity. When the basket is lifted out, the silicone collar keeps anything large from falling into an open drain while still letting water drain easily. But it’s also possible to close the stopper completely before removing the basket, which is perfect for when the basket fills while there’s still a lot of debris floating in the water. Rather than risk much of it going down the drain when the basket is removed, just depress the button to close the stopper, which holds all the water in the sink while you clean the basket. Then replace the basket, press the button again to unstopper the sink, and you’re back in business again. It’s also possible to regulate the position of the silicone stopper collar to have slower or faster drainage; just screw (or unscrew) the button controlling the stopper to raise or lower it. I may be behind the times when it comes to sink drain technology, but I do love having this level of control! It’s a little pricey for a sink strainer, but its design and function are worth it, I think. Very happy to add this to my kitchen work flow!

Yes, this strainer really does fit most standard size US kitchen sinks and it looks really great too. The original strainer our kitchen sink came with was tiny and generally terrible so we had been using a different brand stainless steel and silicone strainer for years. However it didn't seem to be staying put as well to help keep the food scraps out, so I was interested in trying this one out. This stainless steel strainer has a silicone ring and plasic covered plunger part that makes a water tight seal when it's pressed down, this design allows this strainer to work as a drain plug too. Just press it again to release and drain the water out. The top basket part is solid stainless steel and it's very easy to take off and dump out into the compost bucket without having to take out the entire strainer. Love that separate basket design feature personally. The basket is a little on the smaller side but it does an excellent job of catching everything which is the main thing that matters to me. This strainer works better than I expected it to and it looks nicer than anything else we have used which is really great. Really appreciate that it doesn't move around or float up when I do the dishes too. The one thing I noticed is that the raised up outer edge it has makes a very slight moat of water around the drain that can't go all the way down. It's not bothersome enough for me to mind and it could be different on other types of kitchen sinks so I still think it's 5 star item. Huge upgrade from other strainers and plugs.

Loved it so much that I have since bought two more! These are a real game changer for sink strainer/stoppers!Such an upgrade from old twist and turn stoppers. Now I just push down and get a sink full of water, push again and it all drains!A set of these would make a PERFECT housewarming gift for anyone. One of those things that you don’t know you need until you have it then you don’t know what you would do without it! Yes I know $16.99 for a sink strainer seems a little on the pricey side but in my opinion they are well worth it!Thank you for taking your time to read this review. I sincerely hope it was helpful!

Please excuse the messy sink! Excited to receive this sink drain basket (the small things in life!), however can't talk to the longevity of it working (but it seems like it will hold up for a long time compared to the usual post ones that eventually never keep the plug up).It seals well holding water, due to silicon rings both on the bottom and underneath the basket. Super easy, gentle push down to seal, and gentle push down to unseal. Quite handy! [Fits the sink well, but it seems to be the usual general size sink drain.]For me (hence why 4 stars instead of 5), I find it annoying that the basket is separate from the bottom plug, which makes for an extra step (more things to pick up) when I want to remove the basket fully out of the drain. Also don't know how well this sink drain plug will hold up to dishwasher cleaning (which is how we usually clean the sink drain baskets) - no instructions saying not to clean it that way.Overall it seems like great quality that will work well for a while. If you are in need, & don't mind the basket being separate, then I say this would be a great option for you.
