These don't work with MacOS, maximum download speed of 50 Mbit. Plugging them into a Windows gaming PC and letting the Windows update install drivers gets full 2500 Mbit speeds, showing that there's probably a missing driver.Since I cannot install drivers on a corporate managed (locked down) Mac, and these are NOT plug and play (you must install a driver to use them on any operating system) I'll be returning them and looking elsewhere for 2.5gbe network connectivity.

I wanted to hard wire my Mac to the router and it only has USB-C connections. This allows you to gain a direct connection to your network for very fast internet without bogging down your wifi.

I've had this unit for two months without a single issue. A similar type connector from Walnew (USB C to Ethernet Adapter, WALNEW USB Type C to RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Adapter Cable Converter, Thunderbolt 3 to RJ45 LAN Network Adapter for MacBook P) began having failed or dropped connections which I was able to correct by unplugging and replugging the unit into my M3 MacBook Pro. I wondered if it was my laptop or the connector so I ordered this Uni connector and the problem resolved. I have fiber internet with 1 gig speeds, this thing handles it easily. Recommended.

This device brought 2.5Gbe network connectivity to my M2 Mac mini. Plug it in, restart the computer, and it worked as described straight away. Greatly increased file transfer speed between my Mac and the Asustor NAS.

(edited to add: After some back-and-forth with the seller, they are sending me a new one.) I also own the 1 Gbps version of this dongle. The 1 Gbps version averages about 950 Mbps, while this newer "2.5 Gbps" version averages about 750 Mbps, running with the same I.S.P. and hardware. Odd . . . .(Edited to add: This dongle doesn't play well with Android devices (phones and tablets). On a Galaxy S23 Ultra using a 1 Gps connection, throughput is only about 350 Mbps. (with the 1 Gbps version of this adapter, 950 Mbps is obtained.) The device isn't even recognized by my Galaxy Tab S7, whereas the Tab S7 recognizes and provides full throughput with the 1 Gbps version of this adapter.)Edited to add: the new one performs the same as the old, and won't work at all with a Google Pixel 9 Pro XL.

I run only Linux on my laptop. I have had good luck with UNI adapters, so I tried this for my laptop to connect to a 10GbE network. Note: the router is multi-bandwidth: 1GbE, 2.5GbE and 10GbE.What I disliked was that I had to compile a driver. UNI should put the drivers on the major Linux distro repositories. That's one person making one compilation for everyone else, and everyone else just pushing a button to install the driver, which can then be automatically updated if necessary. Then it would have been a very easy, if not all but required, purchase decision.I finally did compile the driver for the various versions of Linux I use, and it worked flawlessly. I am getting more than double the throughput than I did with 1GbE. I have not lost a connection yet, even with quarter-TB file transfers.Based on this experience, if UNI comes out with a 10GbE adapter that is linux compatible, I will be inclined to give it a try.

My MacBook Air M1 never worked on Ethernet. Tried many different adapters and hubs with 1Gb connect and they never worked. Almost gave up, until I read a note that a 2.5Gb adapter worked for another user.Huh? Made no sense, but okay, I'll try it. Surprise, it did!.Now I have my Ethernet for the occasional times I need it. Apparently the chip/driver was the issue.

Absolut empfehlenswert – volle 5 Sterne!

It's a bit large, but that seems fairly normal, especially for multi-gig interfaces. The tubular body is metal, and the short USB-C cable has a weave exterior that feels like it should be durable.I attached mine to an Intel-based MacBook pro running Monterey. It worked fairly quickly but not immediately. I recommend pulling up your System Preferences | Network and watching for it to appear. Mine popped up as "USB 10/1000/2.5G LAN". One it appeared it worked as soon as an ethernet cable was plugged in. I did not have to manually install any drivers. The device does run warm (not hot) during "normal" usage - meaning things like browsing, video chat, etc. I haven't seen if it gets genuinely hot under sustained, max speed transfers.FWIW, I have it connecting to a QNAP QHora-322 switch (which has multiple 2.5GB ports) connected to around 2400 MBit fiber internet service. (I pay for 2GBit but for some reasons I get around 2.4. I haven't complained. 🙂)Tools like Ookla's speed test consistently score the MacBook right in the expected range up and down. The numbers compare directly with posted by my tower PC running Windows 10 which has a 2.5Gbit port powered by an Intel NIC on the motherboard. For the price I think this is a pretty great product. I'll likely use it on both the MacBook (which is a work machine) as well as my own personal laptop when I am using a wired connection at my desk and really want/need max speed transfers.

I was not happy about the packaging however I will still give 5 stars for the quality.I was curious to see if I could get multi gig speed with this adapter. My Ethernet port on my iMac power brick is capped at 940 mbps. I plugged this adapter into my lightning port first and did a speed test. Then I pugged this adapter into the regular USB C port and did a speed test. To my surprise, the regular USB C port record faster speeds on average. Overall i average around 2.3 gbps on wireless backhaul. I also used my wife’s brand new iMac air. Achieve 2.3 gbps on average and I was connected to the main router.Disclaimer: For my non tech folk. First remember that you only get the speed you pay for from your ISP. Second, remember your devices must be able to handle Multigig speed. That is why I used my iMac for an example. The Ethernet port is only rated for gigabit wired connection. However, you can use your lightning or regular USB ports(with an adapter) to achieve internet speeds over 1 gig.
