I mostly like these. I am not a rock climber but there are 100 things I use carabiners for because they have the strength and flexibility to be used for everything from connecting things to my travel bag to securing a trailer chain to temporarily closing a gate that doesn't need to be locked but you don't want it flying open. They are one of the most versatile tools you can use. I specifically got these because of the locking feature because I'm working on a project in the garage to hoist my roof racks to the ceiling for storage. These are solid and can hold far more weight than I am going to pull so that's a huge plus. I am using a u-bolt with a flat bottom as the carabiner connection point on the rack so the 1" opening is going to work just fine and the twist-lock motion is going to be great because I want these to open when I want them to open...not accidentally. I do however think these are going to be great for spot use because while the carabiner itself is a nice size, the locking clasp means a much narrower opening. The picture shows a 1" opening which for a carabiner of this size is a little on the small side. Again, they make up for the lack of opening with the fact that they do lock in place and can't be quickly unlocked. That makes them versatile for many of the reasons I mentioned above (like securing a load, a tent, a trailer, etc) but it will make them a little challenging for someone who wants to quickly secure him or herself to something because it's a multiple motion movement - twist, push, hook, release vs push, hook, release which is a lot easier one handed. That said, these are a quality product and I have already put them to the test by securing a trailer hitch mounted basket with them. For me, worth it. For a climber...not sure.

These carabiners are beautifully made and rock solid. I've never encountered this auto-locking feature before and it's going to take some time before I decide if I like it or not. They are UIAA certified rated for 25KN (5,620 lbs) axial load.It works by twisting the knurled lock on the gate then holding the gate open as you fasten it to a line or piton or whatever, then when you release the gate as soon as it closes the lock untwists and locks the gate. You can't choose not to use the locking function. You can't just unscrew the gate, snap the carabiner on and then screw it closed, you have to hold the gate open. I've been practicing doing it one handed and I think I have it down, I just hold the lock between my thumb and index finger and twist...the problem with that is my thumb and index finger remain kinda in the way as I hold the gate open.As it is these are very high quality, well constructed, strong carabiners. The locking function works very well, you don't have to force the gate to close, because the lock can't untwist until the gate closes. One has to decide whether you like the auto-lock or not, but regardless I can't subtract a star for personal preference. If one wants the auto-locking feature I highly recommend this Lasehuh carabiner.

I haven’t taken these out climbing but from inspection of the carabiners, they look well made. The packaging states that these can be used one-handed but it took me a while to develop the dexterity to manipulate the latch lock. That is an interesting feature of this device. You twist the lock and squeeze the latch basically in one motion to open the latch. As soon as you release the lock, a spring snaps the latch closed. The packaging says the carabiner is made of aircraft grade aluminum and it certainly feels strong. One interesting thing is that there is an expiration date for these on the package! It says, “Don’t use them for more than 10 years”. I found that amusing. These are a fine product and will work great for my modest needs.

These have a really nice feature with the locking gate. I don't rock climb but I do use stretch bands and sometimes put my full body weight (150 pounds) on them. I don't want a clip that fails so I opted for these climbing carabiners reasoning that if they can stop your full weight on a fall, they can sure hold my weight for some resistance band weight training.I personally like the autolocking feature so I don't worry about a band or cable slipping through the gate. However, it is almost a two handed venture to get the thing open. With a rope or cable pressing on that side it might be very difficult to get it open one-handed. It's not a problem for my purposes, but might be for some people.

Although I won't be using these carabiners for climbing, it is reassuring to know I could, and that they are officially UIAA-certified. I'm using them to hang gear from harnesses and tool belts. They're crafted from lightweight but high-strength 7075 aviation aluminum, with a tensile strength of 25KN in the load-bearing direction. The twist lock is knurled and easy to operate one-handed, as useful on a construction ladder as on a sheer rock face. The gate opens smoothly then reseats with a powerful spring return. The carabiners have an attractive all-black anodized finish, polished and very smooth throughout, with no sharp edges or burrs to abrade or stress rope.I am quite happy with this order, and pleased to recommend it for your use.
