Over time the recorder has to be unplug and plugged back in constantly in order to get the cameras and menu on screen, gets very annoying and each time I cross my fingers hoping it will work, not to mention, I am not a fan of either the phone or pc access and use. I've been in the cctv business for a long time and while I can find my way around, my brother and sister, whom I got this for can not and trying to show them, way harder than it should be for the average consumer

Updating the review to 4 stars from 2. Tiger pointed out that the Tuya app has a multi-view mode which addresses my main issue with the phone app. The PC app is still terrible and I do wish Tiger would simply allow connections from their old PC app (which worked great for my previous DVR).Previous review: I was really excited to upgrade from the 8 channel device to this one. It still has 8 HW channels for analog cameras, but adding IP based cameras does not replace analog ones so you can get a total of 16 (8 IP and 8 analog). The big issue is the remote app. Instead of the old mobile and PC apps that let you connect and see multiple live steams , Tiger only allows the Tuya app to connect remotely. This app is a general purpose home automation app and does not do what you would expect for security cameras. Live streams can only be shown one-by-one and must be started to individually see your cameras live. When I'm remote I like to quickly see a multiscreen live window to check what is going on at home- not possible with Tuya. The PC app is even worse - it won't even allow you to connect unless you authenticate from you mobile device and it lacks most of the features that come with a direct DVR setup. So setting up the DVR headless at home is not possible. The Tiger SW for that case (directly attached monitor, keyboard and mouse) is much improved so the DVR is quite usable - just not as a headless unit with a PC remotely controlling it. Overall Tiger made one step forward (16 channels) and one step back (terrible remote access).

This was an extremely frustrating device to install and configure, as there exists no significant tech support and the "user manual" is completely useless!!After quite a long, arduous effort, my installation endeavor was fruitful. The unit does NOT include either an HDD or a CAM. Hence, it was quite a while before I procured those items. I had assumed that it would ship with the HDD pre-installed. I didn't read the description close enough prior to my acquisition of the DVR ..........MY BAD!!!It does come with a mouse, albeit NOT a keyboard. Subsequently, set-up and configuration necessitated that I utilize one of my own, of which I have several.

I am quite surprised at how well this Network Video Recorder performs. I have been looking to replace a GW system that I've had for my security system for about 7 years. This one offers a manual and on-screen menus that are written in proper English - a welcome improvement over my GW NVR. Included in the box are the NVR console, power cord and adapter, a mouse with battery, a couple of warning stickers, and the User Manual. As noted by the manufacturer the hard drive is not included. Although there is a second SATA data port found inside there is no second power connection so it appears you truly are limited to just one hard drive. It does not support external hard drives as additional storage. I installed and formatted a single WD Purple 6TB drive which has performed quite well.I have attached 2 analog cameras to the console which supports 8 BNC connectors for analog cameras. I have also connected 7 additional digital IP cameras as well. All of my IP cameras were ONVIF compliant and were found easily by the NVR. I have the cameras connected to a POE hub or via WiFi. The POE hub is connected to the NVR via the ethernet port in the back. However, I have two ONVIF cameras that I can't get to display in the console as they do not connect. I don't know where the problem is with these two cameras but I'll keep trying. BTW - my previous NVR couldn't connect to them either so I am not blaming this NVR.With 9 cameras all at higher than HD resolution and playback set to 30 fps I get 24 days of recorded playback available using my 6TB hard drive. Theoretically this NVR can handle 16 cameras but you'll need to be wary of the bandwidth used as there is a limit that may dictate fewer connections. The best part about this device for me is that the phone app (Tuya Smart) works reliably. I've checked in on my cameras from work, at project sites, from across the country and even internationally without any issues accessing the live feeds. I can also control my PTZ cameras without any problems. I couldn't be happier with this NVR as it provides flexibility, reliability and peace of mind.

It exceeded my expectations and has many convenient features, with excellent build quality. If you want a stable and secure NVR/DVR that is modern and advanced, consider this product. Keep in mind that it doesn't have PoE ports, so you'll need a separate switch for certain cameras. It works with specific IP and BNC cameras, but not SDI. The 5-megapixel recording system is the highest resolution in TIGERSECU's range, with instant alerts and remote viewing on various devices. It also doesn't have a hard drive.

I believe that this is a high-quality product, although the purchaser needs to take care in making sure that the recorder is compatible with the purchaser's cameras. In my particular case I was replacing an older DVR. My existing system has 8 analog cameras and two IP cameras. It was with the IP cameras that I had the problem--I fought with it for three weeks before giving up and returning it.I believe that if you're setting up a new system and choose to purchase Tigersecu's IP cameras then it will probably be fine for you. Unfortunately, that was not the case with my particular situation.
