The color of the plume signified different things. During some periods the color specified the officers rank, and at other times it designated units This Roman Centurion Helmet features a red hair plume and is hand made of high carbon steel.

The helmets actually pretty cool it's a little loose when you try to wear it I had to wear a stocking cap underneath of it that helped quite a bit my only real complaint about it is that there's several scuff marks as though this was something that was returned and then sent to me so in several places it is discolored and there are to cheek guards for lack of a better term that hang down by the side they are hinged in place and one of them the hinge is extremely Loose by comparison so it flaps very easily if I were to take this to a Costume event I would have to figure out some way to keep it from slapping me in the face every time I turned and there is no strap to hold them together you have to figure out your own you should also know that it's bigger than you think it is but it's fairly robust with the exception of some scuffed up paint still all in all pretty cool piece

Awesome addition to my collection, it came with the protective oil that took a bit to clean. But the end result is amazing and looks sweet with my costume.

If someone in your family went or is attending USC this is a great gift. I purchased one for my father who graduated many many years ago and he instantly looked for a place to display it. Now when someone asks about it he will gladly talk about it and how cool and real it is. The only thing to be prepared for is a little oil. It comes relatively covered in it (I'm assuming it was put in the hinges to avoid rust or something). A nice wipe down of it seemed to do the trick though! All in all I recommend this gift to any current or graduate student of USC!

Really nice helmut. As a photographer i wanted a well made helmut for shoot .It was great!!!. I needed to have person wear a winter knitted cap to fit. That was all that was required

You may not be looking to conquer Gaul, but all of us have some foe worthy of subjugation, even if it’s merely the UCLA Bruins. If you’re a USC alum like several members of my family (grad degrees in medicine, law, business), you don’t want one of those little plastic helmets for $16, you want this handsome, metal, nicely made one that you’ll be proud to display on its solid wooden stand or perhaps wear at kickoff. The beautiful red crest stands up far better than a few flimsy feathers you see on the lesser models, and the entire piece is surprisingly well-made. It has an adjustable leather chin strap; you can pad the helmet it if it’s too large. It was a good buy and made my grandson very happy. This purchase was a birthday gift slightly delayed due to a severe Midwestern storm, but the company representative was extremely responsive, promptly located the package in Cincinnati, and assured me it would be here on time, which it was. Carpe vinum!

Franchement pour le prix, c'est topon dirait un vrai : beau métal, cuir intérieur, belle brossele hic c'est qu'il a été livré "écrasé" cf photo et ça a été galère de le redresser et ce ne sera jamais aussi propre que s'il n'avait pas été écraséet on aimerait une toute petite notice de montage de la brosse pour savoir dans quel sens la mettre
