Heat retention can take up to 12 hours, while cold retention can be up to 24 hours. To increase the temperature retention, you may pre-heat the carafe by adding boiling water inside, then removing it before pouring in your drink. I read the reviews before purchasing so I knew there would be a potential issue with heat retention. But I’m really disappointed in how fast the coffee cools down after 2 hours. I preheat the carafe with hot water for at least 10 minutes then went to 30 with no change. It definitely seals good because you hear it release when you first fill your first cup of coffee but after that it doesn’t seal back. I even tried unscrewing the top and screwing it back on to see if it would reseal but it didn’t. So I’m not sure what else I could do. I was hoping to get more heat for a longer period so I wouldn’t have to keep using the microwave to reheat.

Large carafe holds a full 12 cups of coffee. I use it for my ladies’ group, can make the coffee easily in advance and it stays hot for hours. The beverage is easy to dispense especially for people with arthritic hands . A very worthwhile purchase which adds convenience and time management to my day.

Had coffee in the morning and when I came back in the evening, the coffee was still warm. Not hot fresh, but still good coffee warm. Perfect for when company comes over and some people drink a different coffee. No issues with a smell of any kind. Arrived on time and perfectly packaged. Very happy with my purchase.

When first received, was concerned the thermos was light in weight, however after using it now for a couple of weeks, are extremely pleased with how it functions. Our coffee remains hot during the morning use. It is easy to use, to pour the coffee. Is very attractive thermos.

This little carafe works perfectly for me. It is just the right size to hold several extra cups of freshly brewed coffee. It does cool off over the day, but the first pour is just as hot as my first brewed cup, and even after 6 or 7 hours, what is left is warm enough to enjoy. This carafe cleans easily and shines like new by simply wiping off any water drops with a paper towel.

Had the carafe for a couple of weeks now and like it. Bought it to replace one that dripped every time you poured from it. This doesn't! Keeps liquids warm several hours. Hot water overnight is warm in the morning. Coffee 3.5 hrs after making is warm, not hot, but drinkable without microwaving. Like the stubby look. Brush is an extra, but nothing special.Update 2 months later - Bought mid-Jan, now mid-Apr and it doesn't keep the coffee hot as originally did. Water doesn't stay hot overnight. Coffee doesn't stay hot for more than an hour or so. Must be a problem with the seal.

Lot of detail :) Attractive and perfect size for serving tray use. I keep this at my elbow while working to freshen my cup.PROS: Pretty much everything is perfect about this little carafe. Product design gets my attention where cleanliness is concerned. When something is great looking my next examination goes to how easily I can clean it. This carafe has zero flaws where that is concerned. It keeps hot liquids hot with a perfectly cool exterior. The lid and shoulder plastic does warm up but doesn't get hot. The shape of it makes it very difficult to tip over. It has the typical double seal in the lid which in the past has proven to never leak, even after a couple of years use (I experienced this through a different product with the exact same style seals).CONS: To open/close this carafe you might accidentally exert too much pressure on the lever that lets out the liquid. I sort of press my thumb at the side of the lever where it attaches to the lid. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's flimsy at all. It's quite sturdy, I'm just saying, try it out so that your lever stays in good shape. Still gave this little guy five stars because the lever is almost a non-issue if you've ever owned a product with similar stying.OTHER: Don't over-tighten*. I have only used this for hot or iced water so can't comment on stains**. I haven't dropped this carafe or put it in a dishwasher so can't comment on that either.*The lever and handle will be aligned when the lid is at the correct position to seal. Particularly with hot liquids, over-tightening will cause you to shove the lever sideways to get it open. The lid is too smooth/low profile for me to exert enough pressure (small hands, slight arthritis) to get it open if someone has over-tightened the lid.**I prefer to use a carafe like this only for water although I have used other types for tea/coffee/cocoa. Unless you have TINY hands, you will need a scrubber with a handle to get inside comfortably. The only seam inside the carafe is easily accessible directly under the threaded part of the plastic neck.

This carafe has worked out very well for our intended purpose. We wanted something that would keep coffee hot after he makes it until I was ready to drink my share later in the day. I wouldn't say it keeps the coffee as hot as when it is first brewed but it does keep it at a nice drinkable temperature for when I want it (generally 4 to 5 hours after him). I do feel, though, that the part on the top you need to press down seems as little iffy as if with time it will break off so I am particular to take care when using it. As I said, though, it has worked out for us beautifully.UPDATE: Nine months later the pot is still going strong and the part I was worried about is holding strong :)
