I use these to turn pens. This turns very nice and the color is wonderful. I have ordered twice and and they are not very porous as you turn to size. The reason for only 3 stars is that they come pre-drilled with a very small bit. This is not on the center line, especially after cutting the antler to size. In piece ended fine the other I turned into the hole. If they did not come pre-drilled, I would purchase a lot more.

A little tip to find center when you’re turning antler on a lathe is to torch the ends a little and center will turn yellowish brown!

With orders in for three antler pens -- and my usual supplier being out of stock -- I took a chance with this product. Yes, they are suitable for dogs, but the price is better than I found at the pet store (though worse than my regular turning stock supplier) and the pieces I received worked out nicely. Project was on time, customer is happy, and my profit margin only took a small hit.

Arrived in two days. The antler pieces were very big so I’ll have plenty to work with. They were surprisingly heavy. Should make some greats pens. Will be buying again.
