Our daughter plays in her high school marching band and we try to support the band program as much as possible. I ordered these reeds for the band program as the students will sometime forget to pack a replacement reed for their performances. The band teacher tried out one of these reeds for his Sax player and he was very pleased with the performance of the reed. While the reed itself may not be best suited for professional players, they do very well for band students. The reed fit perfectly without any problems and the student was able to play without a problem as well. The small plastic sleeve the reed came packaged in will be reused as it protects the reed very well while in storage.

I have uploaded one pic. Looking at these 5 reeds side by side you can see that they all were cut differently. Look at the center of the reed and see how different the shoulders are cut, as if the reed wasn't quite centered for cutting. Most pros know how to work a reed and if you know how to do that you're probably not concerned with subtle differences like you can see in this pic. Nevertheless, it speaks to quality in my book and cost to benefit. While these reeds have pretty good meat on the heart the tips warp easily on the set that I got. I feel like the 3 strength is pretty accurate and gives one just enough meat to work it down to a 2.5 and be left with a pretty good reed. The finish on the reed was smooth but again the tips were just lacking. I immediately started chirping and I can't have that. Like their 3-D printed mouthpieces, Syos reeds are not for me -based on this box.

My family member who plays the alto saxophone said these were good. They said they had a good sound and warm tone.

I’ve been using these for about 4 months after playing on vandooren for most of my life. They are perfect for classical music and trying to blend. They do not take any time to break in- however they do lose their touch FAST. they’re not as durable as the vandooren 3.5 (could be user error), but the quality is easily comparable (and less money). I would purchase again!

I'm a SYOS mouthpiece owner and based on my experience with those, I gave these a try. I normally use Vandoren V16s or Javas. These were roughly comparable. I tested out 3 of the reeds right away - all 3 were playable out of the box. No complaints. These reeds will definitely be part of my consideration set next time I need more reeds.

I've played sax for 40 years, used to play a lot more, but still on occasion. I generally use Vandoren V16 3.0 reeds, so was curious how these compared. With a little time in, they have a nice tone and feel to them, not quite as nice as the Vandorens, but they are also less expensive. I didn't notice any bad reeds in the bunch.

Maybe it's just because I've now switched to a Syos mouthpiece, but I find that I am now preferring these reeds over my old vandorens. They play well and they seem to be cut consistently. Haven't had a bad one yet.
