Gravel bike, riding lots of hills (200,000 vertical this year so far). So I know my brakes pretty well. SRAM HRD brakes came with SRAM pads, which were very noisy and wore pretty fast. Those were bi-metallic, as I understand it. Wanted something quieter, so got these. Expensive and wore out very fast, and were occasionally VERY loud squealers. For 1/3 the cost ($11.69 vs. $35), I tried the Gekors ceramic pads. They brake with smooth progression, very effective at stopping, consistently very quiet, and seem to be wearing much better (lasting longer) than either of the others. I'm a convert.

Super hyped on these pads and don’t see myself going back to anything else. I have run them through some massive rain storms and mud baths and not a squeal, squeak, or peep.

I got some sram hydraulics on my new "old guy" gravel/road urban pothole machine. The original pads were metallic and squeaked constantly, no matter how well they were adjusted. In addition, the modulation was simply put "poor" for a hydraulic brake with the old pads, 0 to 100% brake load in very little lever travel, This is just dangerous, a slip of the finger and your eating asphalt, curb, fender, hood ....whatever out there.Now, my new traffic negotiating machine has more brake modulation, which means more control and safety, Plus no more aggravating and peace of mind-killing squeaks, squalls or caterwauls.Highly recommended, oh, by the way, if you haven't figured it out yet, keeping your favorite backside off the asphalt (particularly at speed) is worth a few extra bucks.

I never thought I'd write a review of disc brake pads, but here we are. In the usual, pre-DK200 fuss, I realized I hadn't put new pads on my grav grav bike in some time (Sram Force hydro calipers). If I was going to bleed them, I should re-shoe them as well (especially as the bleed blocks put the pistons at optimal length for new pads). I've been running Swiss stop organic pads on a few bikes. Yes they wear fast, but they're more quiet and slightly better at braking, not that you really notice. The pads are fine. Not life changing, but maybe a smidge better than Sram's.Then there's the bolts.I don't know what pot metal crap they are made out of, but both of them snapped off at the head. The first one happened to snap when I was putting the pads on my rear caliper right after the bleed. I thought to myself "well, maybe I over torqued it." That's something I have never done with any brake pads and... I have changed and bled lots of pads for folks over the years. So I busted out some tiny needle nose plies and slowly backed the bolt out (grasping the bit between the calipers).Maybe it was a fluke.Post DK (so like a few days ago), I had noticed I had gotten some gunk on the front pads or rotor and they were making noise. So I pulled the rotor, scrubbed it down then went to pull the pads and... snap. The head just popped off. Had to pull the same trick, but I had some spare Sram bolts laying around, so it is all good now.My point is, if you buy these, save your old bolts. I was not going hard on these at all (there is no point, with the clip you pop on to keep them from unthreading and really, they don't take much strain). Maybe I got two duds, but man... I would not trust those bolts.Incidentally, I didn't have that issue with a different set on Guide RSCs, so who knows?

I replaced Sram brake pads with these because the Sram ones were chattering and giving me a lot of noise even after cleaning and re-bedding. These seem to be excellent and stop nice and smoothly.

These are the third set of different pads I've used on my SRAM HRD road disc brakes. The SRAM-branded pads that came with the brakes made the worst noises I've ever heard from disc brakes (and I've used 5-6 different brands on my MTB prior to these road ones).Just to see if the noise was due to the pads, I bought a set of $10 Jagwire "Sport Organic" pads which essentially fixed the noise problem. However, they also have less power than the SRAM pads, and in wet conditions they do make noise (and they are noisier than the SRAM's in these conditions but not by much).These SwissStop pads are as noise-free as the Jagwire's but provide a similar level of stopping power as the SRAM OEM's. I haven't tried the SwissStops in the wet to see how noisy they are in those conditions, but I don't use those conditions to judge disc brake pads.So these SwissStops are definitely the best road disc brake pads I've found so far. However, given that they cost 3x that of the Jagwire's I will probably only use the SwissStop's in the front where the added power is nice. For the rear I'll probably stick with the Jagwire's where power is less of an issue.
