Having not ridden bikes in over 10 years, I got an e-bike late 2021 and enjoyed the heck out of it. As time passed, I discovered that 1. the knee pain I'd experienced in riding bikes was caused by not setting the seat height properly and 2. I wasn't getting the exercise I needed, since I couldn't resist the temptation to use the e-bike's throttle to get around. I got a Schwinn GTX 2 hybrid bike and have liked it; it's small and easy to handle, lightweight and doesn't have an electric motor with throttle, so I get a workout now when I ride.I've enjoyed it so much I'm starting to ride long enough that I have to stop for rehydration breaks and even snack breaks. I've wanted to stop by fast places, like a fuel station or convenience store to get a drink/snack but don't want to leave my bike unsecured. I've bought some locks, but my GTX 2 has quick release skewers on both wheels and the seat post clamp. Last thing I need is to step inside for a drink, then step out to see my bike's seat and/or wheel(s) missing! After some quick research, I chose these and have had zero regrets. All three of these skewers were a drop-in replacement to the quick release skewers on my bike with no issues during installation. I was able to really tighten all the skewers down without issue as well (issues being overtightened wheels, stripped threads, etc.). My bike still rolls smoothly with no extra resistance. So, do these help with tampering and theft? I can't say. I gratefully note that my bike hasn't been targeted for either activity, and I certainly hope it never does. But I am glad that I've got these installed, and while they certainly won't stop someone who's down and determined to steal my bike and/or components off it, they will stop opportunistic thieves that are looking to quickly pop a quick-release and make off with wheels and seats.

Just got my fat tire electric bike and wanted to secure as much of it as possible when I park it around town. Had to use the long tire skewer for the front tire but that was the one I was most concerned about since it was a quick release. That and the seat post were super easy to replace and now I no longer worry when I just lock the frame that I will return to a bike missing parts. Very happy with this solution and the price was perfect.

Does not work with a standard bike. The seat one worked but the skewers for the wheels were too long.

Much more secure than the quick release skewers my bike came with! I did have to tighten them after a couple weeks of daily riding, as they had loosened up considerably, but after one round of tightening they have stayed secure for the past three months with no issues. I like to keep the little key with me in case I need to adjust my seat height while out, so I do wish two keys were included so I could also keep one at home. Other reviewers are right in that the non-key end of the skewers is textured, so a thief could use pliers or vice grips and wrangle your wheel off if they wanted. That said, I'm fairly confident my front wheel isn't worth that effort, so I am fairly satisfied with these.

These things are a breeze to install. I'm a student at UC Davis (AKA Bike Central, USA) and we tend to have a fair amount of bike vandalism occur due to the large quantities of bikes on campus. Not wanting to have my wheels stolen due to the fact that a U-lock won't fit around my tire and my frame, I went ahead and took the preemptive measure of installing these locking skewers. It only took about 5 minutes to do so. Glad I did, as I now don't have to worry so much about leaving my bike alone while in class or in my dorm. Unless thieves go through the effort of getting one of these keys, they have not much chance of steeling my bike seat or my wheels. Unlocking is quite simple, as its exactly like putting an allen wrench (hex key) into a bolt socket. Very happy with this product, so much so that I've been telling my friends on campus about it.

I don't normally review items but these are a great product, and lacking some love on Amazon. I put them on both mine and my girlfriend's bikes last year, and we have several hundred miles on them and they are holding up just fine. They use a 5 sided key, that is non-standard, so standard hex Allen key wrench sets are useless despite what a few people have said in their reviews. We have left our bikes around Boston many times without the front wheels U-locked and never had a problem with tampering.I have also changed a tube several times on the road and the tool works like it is supposed to, just remove (or atleast back it out) the bolt that goes through the middle of the tool, it usually just gets in the way. the tool has a key-ring on it and you can just put it on your key-chain, I have never had a problem with it coming off. Just don't lose it, it only comes with one, and the replacements are expensive.I have wheels that drop in from the bottom and the skewers hold them just fine. Anyone that is having problems with them not holding isn't torquing them properly. I also had no problem with the seat clamp as a few others did, however, I have a pretty standard sized comfort bike.People will say these aren't secure and can be defeated. However, every security skewer out there can be defeated with the right tools, a little know how, and a few minutes. These just make it a pain for the majority of thieves, so they look for an easier target. The thing that makes these really great is that they are just a few more bucks than a regular set of skewers! But they are many times more theft resistant than standard skewers!
