It's an excellent product. Only issue I had was that the little pin or clip that keeps the wheel on came off and I went to the store and got another. Other than that it's been working great.

I was pleasantly surprised on how much power the unit had for being electric. It worked great for my yard, and pulled up quite a bit of dead grass. The batteries held a charge for a significant amount of time to complete my whole yard.

Compared to the competition, Sun Joe is as good as it gets; but there is lots of room for improvement. It does a great job thatching. I attached the bag, but it does not stay attached, so it is worthless. I had to use my lawn mower to suck up the thatch. The batteries lose power in less than 20 minutes; and take a long time to charge. Why such small batteries? My electric lawn mower uses one 80V battery and it lasts about 2 hours.

This machine pulled up 3 trash bins full of debris! Easy to use and very effective. The collection bag is small - we had to empty it often. I highly recommend! Battery life was adequate. Plenty of power - never bogged down.

It needs more battery life, especially if your lawn is more than 2-3 thousand square feet. I have used the scarifier blade so far. I started in my front yard last evening, got approximately half done and ran out of battery power. I’m going to finish in about an hour. If I am lucky, the thatching blade will use less power. This is a light weight and light duty unit, very nice to transport, and works well for what it is. It is not nearly commercial grade, should probably be used in your lawn only. If you keep up lawn using this, it may last a while. I am hoping it lasts 5 years or more. Then I will have gotten my money’s worth.

First, the dethatcher came look like an open box, the order is for a brand new item. When I first to try it, just found out that the collection bag came with the package did not fit the dethachter (see pictures), it kept falling off the machine. Secondly, when I try to change the scarifier roll, I discovered one size of the machine near the wheel was broken (picture). I contacted Amazon for refund/exchange (received about 10 days ago), they ask me first contact the manufacturer for under warranty claim before asking for refund hassle. I do not understand the logic. I have contact the manufacturer and waiting for reply, almost 48 hrs passed by still have not heard anything. I am very disappointed the Amazon and SunJoe support.

This was easy to use and quiet, though it is louder than the mower. Changing between the blades and the Dethatcher though, has proven to be a bit of a pain. Requires screw and compartment detachment component removal and replacement . Screws require a ratchet. It is not as easy as it seems. Nor will the description or details tell you about this.The machine works amazingly though! Aside from the difficulty in changing the components, this is a very worthwhile machine to have!

The unit does a good job dethatching. The main problem is that the motor overheats and shuts off so much. I'm using the highest dethatch setting too, so the least amount of work for the motor. The motor is definitely too small for the job. Also, the wheels are junk. I can't imagine these things are going to last. It's new now and the wheels feel like they are ready to fall off already. It is pretty important to have good wheels on lawn equipment and these things are terrible. For a company that is trying to promote itself as a quality product, this is ridiculous. If I had seen and felt the unit before buying it, I probably would not have bought it because of the wheels. Definitely would not recommend this dethatcher.

Living in the North West we have a lot of moss that takes over the yards. I bought this battery operated Sun Joe because of a video on thatching your yard and it looked perfect for my job. With a second set of batteries I do a small section of my yards at a time. The installing of the handle into the machine I had to cut 3/8” off of each post so the screw would enter the host to hold. I like the light weight and easy change of the thatcher head to the scratifier head. I don’t like that the switch only works if you hold just above the safety lock. If you move your hand away from this point it will shut off. Also the batteries get warm to the point the machine will shut down until cool. Then work just fine again.

Got this in a few days ago, did not use it right away due to cold weather.Packaging was very bad, box was torn. Nothing seems to be missing however. Assembly was easy.Used it for the first time today, Feb. 11, 2022. It did a very good job for about 10 minutes, then it died and would not restart. I had done a full charge on the batteries. The batteries show about a 2/3 charge remaining. When it died there was a smell as of a burned electrical motor.Currently recharging the battery and letting the motor cool. Will then try it again, it it does not work I will try to return. Disappointed.Feb. 12, 2022. It works, tried it indoors as it's too cold to use outside. So not a full test. I don't think I did anything that could be considered outside of normal use yesterday. Will see what happens on a warmer day. Still disappointed overall, I'm planning to keep it at this time as I really wanted a dethatcher.
