Our favorite coffee roast. It is getting harder to find. And more expensive.

I used this to make espressos. Considering this is relatively cheap per ounce as far as whole bean coffees go, I found that the flavor was pretty good. It didn't really taste strongly of "dark cocoa and caramelized sugar" to me, but the flavor was pleasant without being overpowering. I'm still trying different beans, but this may be top of the list so far.

I have used beans since they were first available to the retail market in the 70s and I had a little yellow Braun grinder which lasted a very long time. Say what you will about Starbucks, but they have good beans and when you buy thru Amazon you are getting fresh beans or for the past three months when I started buying grocery items thru Amazon they have been so plus I save over $2 a bag. These are the larger bags than the grocery store or the same you would get at Starbucks, itself.

Nice strong beans for Afangotto! A nice 1/2 cup of espresso over quality vanilla ice cream. My favorite desert. Smooth as could be with no acid after taste. Rich dark roast. Very reasonable price too!

I ordered 3 bags at the heavily discounted price and they arrived with a 6/25 use by date, which is good enough. The beans were shiny and looked and smelled fresh. I don't normally make espresso, but use espresso roast for my general cup once in a while. This roast tasted good black and with cream, with just enough oomph to give it a nod. I'll shift between this roast exclusively and blended with my existing Organic Cubano Roast. Glad I was browsing at the right place at the right time.

I started using this coffee and was enjoying it, but I felt like I could pay less and get an equivalent coffee. Maybe one can, but I was unable to. Here are some of the differences I noticed between Starbucks Espresso Roast Whole Bean coffee and some other coffees I tried. The first thing I notice in a coffee bean is its aroma upon opening the package. Starbucks Espresso Roast always smells wonderful, smooth, and enticing. Other beans I tried smelled less appetizing. Simply smelling kind of unpleasant is common. Some coffees smell harsh with an acute bitterness about them. Some smelled musty or dusty. I’m not a connoisseur, so probably cannot adequately describe flavors and aromas, but then again, flavor and aroma notes always seem pretentious and fall short of my flavor experience. The next thing I notice is the bean itself. Starbucks beans are uniform in color and oiliness (sheen), while other coffees I tried had great variances in bean color and sheen. I don’t know for sure, but this seems to be a quality issue such as inconsistent roasting parameters or just simply allowing a greater range of bean to pass QC standards. Whatever it is, it’s a turn off. Starbucks beans look better. Another aspect of this is the whole bean to broken bean ratio, where Starbucks coffee has a greater percentage of whole beans per package than the cheaper products I bought. I don’t know if this affects bean taste or freshness or any other aspect of the bean, but it doesn’t look nice.Next thing noticed is how it grinds. Starbucks coffee seems uniform in color where others were varied, specifically regarding what I took to be the husks or skins of the beans, like chaff. Finally, the most important factor: taste. Starbucks tastes good. Smooth with a bit of an acidic bite. Cheap coffees I tried tasted much like they smelled, with bitter coming to mind most often, along with what I can only describe as “dusty”.Starbucks is good coffee. There surely may be better coffees, but they will be more expensive and that’s not where I’m headed. Enjoy!

Starbucks seems to have replaced the Italian roast shown in image which contains notes of caramelized sugar with an Italian blend with notes of dark cocoa and toasted marshmallows and have told me that it is the same coffee. It isn’t!! The new package no longer shows a Vespa.

カフェオレしか飲めないので、最も合うこのフレンチローストに出会ってからはこればかり。店で買う豆よりもかなり安いので、毎日グランデサイズで何回も飲んでます。お客さんにもおいしいと感激してもらってます。
