This is a good value medium-duty raincoat that works well for betwixt-between sort of weather or to keep in the car to handle most situations for a short time running errands, getting from a parking lot to a store, etc.ProsFit: I like a bit of oversize for layering and since I'm on the cusp of medium/large for regular wear, went for the large and it's a perfect size in that it doesn't balloon, sleeves don't drop past my hands, it doesn't drop too low, but it goes easily and comfortably over even a thick hooded sweatshirt or even a fleece.Waterproofing: water beads up quite nicely on the jacket and it has worked fine on two rainy days. They weren't downpours and I wasn't out for hours, but they were good good showers (steady rain, not a drizzle or light rain) and I was out for about 20 minutes. Kept me perfectly dry both timesBreathability: has a mesh backing for some ventilation. Given its thinness/lightness, that's probably fine, particularly for everyday use (I have a much, much more expensive raincoat for hiking--I don't expect this price point to be super breathable)warmth: it's really a light raincoat. It's thin, light, not insulated, so if you're looking for warmth you want either a different coat entirely or you want to size up so you can layer below it. For the northeast, it's a fine raincoat in summer on its own and good over a sweatshirt in early spring/late fall. It works fine as a windbreakerConveniences:I quite like the cinching method on the hood, find it much better than the usual simple drawcord on similarly priced or cheaper raincoatsPocket are nice (hate coats without them) but wish it had a chest pocket either exterior or interior, even a small onegiven it's thinness, it would have been nice if it folded into a pocket. You can crumple it small, but it's not designed to self-contain itselfall in all a good value for its good points and the "down" points aren't that big a deal, particularly if like me you have a number of situational raincoats.

Very light, in a good way.The weight of this jacket rivals mountaineering windbreakers. In fact, I'd wager the waterproof/breathable membrane is the quantitative difference, since this Spyder has a cape vent like a windbreaker. This soft light hardshell fits great and packs down small to fit in a golf bag, pack, or seatback pocket. The athletic cut will have you looking good if you get caught out there on the 15th, or the mountain winds kick up.It's a light 2-Layer jacket, but very well executed. Backpackers fishermen golfers will love it.

This jacket is a great option for travel, hiking, or keeping in your car for unexpected weather. It packs down small enough to fit into a quart-sized resealable bag, making it easy to store in a backpack without taking up much space. The front zipper and pocket zippers operate smoothly, and adjusting the hood is simple. I chose the bright lime green color for better visibility when walking my dog in the morning and for increased safety in darker forested areas while backpacking. The jacket features a vented back, but when wearing a backpack, some internal moisture buildup can occur. A longer length, reaching mid-thigh, would be a helpful improvement.

True to size. The seams are stitched up tight and no flaws so far. It's cool if you just use it randomly or can be warm for windy, colder weather. The waterproofing works great and keeps you dry. So far it's a good rain jacket.

Like hybrid cars, this hybrid Rain Jacket/Windbreaker from Spyder is a compromise. Get caught in the Perfect Storm and you'd prefer a slicker, or in a desert sandstorm and you'd want an unlined windbreaker. This is a jacket for those of us who don’t work on a fishing boat or live in the Sahara, as the product description says, ”…to handle unpredictable conditions.”Perhaps it was that hybrid goal that made Spyder forego a tuck-in collar for the hood. Like a slicker. And a stuff sack sewn into the lining to carry the jacket when not in use. Like a windbreaker. The waterproof lining also adds warmth for a rainy day but makes it heavier and less breathable than a vented windbreaker. But not everything is a compromise. The jacket ran true-to-size. It draped well and has a more luxurious feel than windbreaker Polyester. The olive color also is rich. The hood may be “always on,” but its “hook and loop adjuster” is more refined than a drawstring and tougher to “lose” while laundering. Zipper and storm flap are heavy duty. The price also is less than I paid for my last windbreaker years ago. Making me [see headline].🙂

VERY lightweight, but somehow not cheap feeling, this thing fits my large frame well, but rolls up to a little larger than a soda can - maybe smaller if you really try. Ideal for 'just in case carry', it's not much bigger than a decent emergency poncho, but much more comfortable.Waterproof, but with a large vent on the back (like a good fishing shirt) so that you don't get overheate while wearing it.

I was looking for a medium weight rain jacket and this one fits the bill perfectly. I had a very light weight one and this one is just a little more substantial than that one, but still it would be considered a "lightweight" jacket. The quality seems very good, and I like all the pockets and the higher quality zippers.Note that it has an attached hood, versus a removable one that some others have. The hood is on the larger side, but there is an adjustable strap to make it smaller/tighter.Overall I am very pleased with the quality and happy with the item!
