Your cart is empty.Lot of 3 bass mutes to fit 4 and 5 string electric bass guitars made by Fender / Squier and others. Use to create vintage 60’s / motown bass tone (James Jamerson, Bob Babbit, Carol Kaye) – that rhythmic, organic, thumpy tone that pushed many 60’s hits along like “Darling Dear” or “What’s goin’ on,”.without resorting to palm muting. These mutes produces a tone similar to the felt (jazz bass) and later rubber mutes of that era's Precision and Jazz basses. Mutes are made from a stiff, high quality foam and measure 1/2" x 1 1/4" x 4". They can be installed flat or stood on end, or with 15 seconds and a razor blade, custom fitted to your bass strings; see pictures for details. Simple friction holds them in place, and under string they can be installed and removed in a few seconds, and stay in place not only during playing, but also hauling the instrument around. No adhesive = no mess.

Foam isn't thick enough for 3 out of 4 strings. Not much of a mute on the fourth.

I've tried other types of materials for mutes, and they either don't work evenly across all strings, or they mute too much. These are perfect. Sized just right, fit evenly under all four strings, and provide just the right amount of muting. Motown, here I come.

Does not work on my Jazz Bass. The foam is way too thin. I have pretty low action and even still the strings don't touch the foam as depicted in the photos. The mute just falls out immediately.

Very simply these mutes are not thick enough to actually mute the strings and hold itself in place. Doubling them up is extremely difficult, and all in all, my disposable foam rubber earplugs to a better job.Certainly not worth the money.

I was looking for foam to mute my strings. I tried some stuff from home but eventually got these. It works well. My only complaint... I hate paying this much for a piece of very normal foam. You could make it yourself if you had the right size foam lying around.

Pretty much cuts out all the brightness of flat wounds on any p bass. Might be a little too dampening for some. It does affect the sustain.I like it, it lives on my p bass with flats.
