It's OK for the price but it way too soft and splinters.

I have Makita and Powertec tracks. This work fine on them (the two are functionally identical). I got the "transparent" (more likely milky white) version of the guard. I like that I can see the line or marks through the strip. It makes it easier (quicker) to place the tracks.Another element of these that makes them just bit different is that the side of the strip you attach to the track is a bit thinner then than rest of it. This makes it a little bit fussier to apply, but it does provide a little more "splinter guard" to the tool. Jury is still out on how much it helps.I am not confident that the adhesive on these will hold long term. I have had to reapply the friction strips on my Powertec track. (When you replace our splinter guard or reapply the friction strips, make sure the track is CLEAN! - I use rubbing alcohol after I have removed all the adhesive.) If these don't stick, I'll update this review.

This replacement splinter guard strip is well made and is well packaged.I liked that the rubber of this splinter guard was consistent and smooth throughout its length. The adhesive is well applied so that it didn't come off the rubber guard when removing the backing tape.I also liked that this item was well packaged into a nice coil that prevented the rubber strip from kinking or getting bent. The guard that was packaged with my original tracksaw rail was just wound around the rail which caused multiple hairpin bends that obviously exceeded the minimum bend radius of that guard. Consequently, there were a lot of places where the adhesive stretched beyond its elastic limit so the adhesive split away from the rubber when I went to install that guard. I am happy to report that this rubber splinter guard has none of those faults and I was able to install this guard easily and without any problems.I wasn't sure whether or not to deduct a star because this rubber guard is 1/3 less thick than my original rubber guard, but the manufacturer did state the thickness of their guard on their webpage so I cannot penalize them for that. Just be aware of the thickness of your rubber splinter guard compared to this one prior to ordering this one.

I have procrastinated doing this test and review. I opened the package (with no instructions) and felt the material. It seems like rubber. Nice enough but I was worried about how it would react with the Festool track saw.So, a couple weeks have passed and I tried it today. It sticks well to the track.But...Festool guides are trimmed by setting the saw and making a pass which cuts the guide to the exact dimensionof the blade and track.I set it all up and made a first pass. I had to pause as I thought I was doing something wrong. What was happening is the saw blade was chopping the rubber and the friction was causing all kinds of noise anddisfigurement of the guide. Circular saws are not made to cut rubber. Please see pics. Pic #1 is a comparison. Pic #2 is my result after trimming.I will either trim the remaining guide material with a razor knife and try to use it or just replace it with the proper material.I am quite surprised that there are any positive reviews. Maybe these folks have a different type of saw set up.Thanks. (not recommended for Festool)

This replacement splinter guard is not bad for the price, but it's a bit too soft for my liking. I've used Festool tracks ever since they had softer black splinter guards, and now use a stiffer translucent splinter guard. I also use Makita, and the generic Powertec versions. This one is so soft I didn't even get a clean cut through it on the first clearance pass to trim it to my blade - it kept catching and flipping up so much that it tore in a couple spots. I'm not sure it will do as good a job preventing splintering when cross cutting plywood as the more firm splinter guard materials. I generally do a backwards kerf cut if it really matters, so I don't tend to have a problem either way. The double-sided tape also had some release plastic stuck under the factory side, so I had to cut off about 6-8" and toss it. Again, for the price it's not too bad, but they should make it a bit more firm in my opinion.
