Not what I expected, the side panel is open. Wanted to use this to seal firearms, the need to heat seal the side panel before using. I've used heat shrink before but this stuff.

I am new to shrink wrap and have been shrink wrapping items to move to storage to add extra protection from dust and moisture. This wrap works, but I keep struggling with it. I found these are harder to manage than PVC. They are softer and keep melting on me. If I use a cooler temperature, it doesn’t shrink properly. I really cannot tell if it’s my technique or the type of wrap I’m using. I need to research more on how to handle it. Other than that, I like this better since it doesn’t have the heavy plastic smell of PVC when using the heat gun. Also, I like the big roll that I can cut to fit different sizes.

Good stuff. I'm not sure what the recommented application is but I use this stuff to protect things I'm putting into storage for a while and it really shrinks down to hold things tight. Good Stuff.

If you don't know what polyolefin heat shrink is, then you probably don't want this. If you have never used heat shrink like this before, then I recommend you look for PVC heat shrink, because it's much easier to work with. But if you want the best looking results, and you're willing to learn how to use this, then this heat shrink is great. Some reviewers have a very hard time working with this heat shrink, but as you can see from my pictures, it's not really that hard to use, once you learn how. I was unable to shrink this with a regular hair drier, and had to use my hot air machine (for electronics work) to get a good shrink on it. The shrink and melt temperatures are very close together, so this is super easy to melt. As you can see from my photos, I was able to achieve good results, but if you look carefully, you'll notice a few spots where it melted (which is my fault). The round silver things are hard drive platters, and was my first attempt at using this heat shrink, and I wasn't using it the right way, I was just experimenting. That was my test to get a feel for how this heat shrink acts, because this is a totally new type of heat shrink to me. Once I got a feel for it, I was quickly able to shrink wrap various items, with no problems. I feel a sealing machine will give you the best results.I ordered the 16 inch wide heat shrink roll, but really it's about double that, because it's folded in half on the roll. That way when you pull it off the roll, you can run it through a sealing machine, to make bags any width you want. Clearly, this roll wasn't meant to be used on it's own, but is just a part of a heat shrink wrap system. Also, the tool they show in the first image, is not included (they don't say it is included, but since it's in the picture, I just wanted to point out that fact). I am really pleased with how this shrink wrap looks, and it will give whatever you seal with it, a professional look. I can't really recommend this heat shrink for most people, because it is so hard to work with, and I recommend PVC heat shrink. It doesn't feel as soft, and doesn't look as good as this heat shrink, but it is much easier to work with. But if you can handle the heat (pun intended), and learn how to shrink this, without melting it, then you will be pleased with the results, and in that situation I can recommend this heat shrink.

I appreciated the amount of shrink wrap that is included on each individual roll. The product was nicely packaged and I appreciated that the wrap was on tubing which I could insert onto my own dispensers. I found that the wrap was large enough to seal many items to include some larger packaging. I appreciated the center seam and this wrap works well with a bar sealer. I did find the material to be a little thinner than I expected and you have to take some caution when using a heat gun or the plastic will develop holes. It takes time, patience, and practice to get things just right. I think that this is a good value for the money and I am happy with my selection.
