These are more suited for puppies and older kittens over 10 weeks. The head and bristles are too big for younger kittens. My vet recommended to start working on desentizing the kittens at 4 weeks on routine care.

Having worked in the veterinary field before, I know how important oral hygiene is for cats. When our two year old cat started showing signs of early stage periodontal disease, I decided to begin brushing their teeth. I’ve seen how expensive dental cleanings can be and wanted to prevent any of our cats from needing them. Being that we have three cats, this five pack of toothbrushes is such a great deal! The bristles are soft and the toothbrush is the perfect size for our cats’ teeth. The clear containers they come in are also great for storage and easy to label if you have multiple cats. Be aware that each toothbrush comes with a plastic cover around the bristles that needs to be removed prior to use. Since brushing our cats’ teeth once a day for a year, there’s been a noticeable reduction in gingivitis and tartar. We replace these toothbrushes every three months.

I got this for my small 5 lb dog. The fibers are super soft so won’t damage or cut her gums. She seems to like it better when I brush her teeth.

If you can, start brushing your pet's teeth as early as you can, to get them used to it. It's a foreign sensation for them, so the longer you wait, the stranger it is, and the more they'll resist. It may take a few sessions to get back to all their back teeth, but those are often the ones that need the most attention.For those of us that adopt older pets, you just have to try your best. These toothbrushes are tiny, even smaller than toddler brushes for children, and the bristles are far smaller and dense. Considering that cat and dog teeth are much more pointed than most human teeth, this makes a lot of sense. I was able to pretty easily brush my cats teeth with these, and the dense bristles worked very well with a cat-specific toothpaste.I can't say any of my cats enjoyed the process, but it wasn't traumatic, and I know that a little attention to their teeth now will help avoid problems later on.

I could never seem to find the right size tooth brush to get into hard to reach places for my cat’s teeth. These brushes make brushing feel less like a chore and I feel great about keeping my cat’s teeth healthy.
