These camping bowls are made of thick and sturdy stainless steel, which initially seemed promising. However, they arrived with noticeable scratches, and the handles were poorly welded and misaligned, giving an unreliable impression.Despite my concerns, I decided to test them by warming oatmeal on a cast iron cooktop. Unfortunately, when lifting the fully loaded bowl, the handle unexpectedly disengaged from the locking mechanism, causing the contents to spill onto the hot plate. The spill burned onto the surface, requiring extensive cleaning and leaving rust marks on my brand-new cooktop. What’s particularly disappointing is that I was very careful while handling the bowl, avoiding any pressure that might disengage the lock. This flaw makes the bowls unsafe for camping, especially when used over a fire, as the handle cannot be trusted to hold securely under weight.

These bowls strike a balance between light weight and strength. There are small dings and scratches on the bowls - fresh out of the box.But this type of gear doesn't need to be perfect. To be honest, having a little wear makes it easier to accept the inevitable bumps down the road.I like the size. It's easily packable yet still holds a good amount.

They are functional but I am rather suspicious of the spot welding. You can see how the handle attachment point is spot welded to the bowl. It would be sturdier if the spot welds were wider apart. Also extremely suspicious of the rolled edge which isn't completely rolled which will allow for food, dirt, moisture to get up under that edge and cause problems.
