You can't take off very much material because it keeps triping the breaker.

PROS: Runs very quietly, seems extremely accurate, dust extractor allows most dust to be collected. Great tech support. Nice long power cable.CONS: May be tough to run in very cold weather - something to do with how the on/off switch is put together. Trying to remove too much material per pass could cause circuit breaker to pop - I take several lighter passes to alleviate this situation.Handle for height adjustment is very tight - takes quite a while to make large changes in height ( not a limiting factor - just slow)For the money this will be tough to beat

I have used this machine many times since it's delivery a month ago. The depth setting is extremely fine allowing incremental adjustments as small as a few thousandths of an inch. The factory set up of the rollers and feed belt are perfect providing absolutely parallel thickness across the width of the workpiece and the precisely adjustable feed rate allows the selection of the correct belt speed according to wood species and depth of cut requirements. An excellent add for any small woodworking shop.

Upon arrival had a problem with ON/OFF switch, called customer service and they lead me through several tests and replaced the switch no charge. Worked great sanding solid wood cabinet doors. Very happy with this sander.

The sander worked great while it worked. After a bit, the drive motor stripped the PLASTIC gear inside. That part is no longer available. There is an upgrade for $256. All it is, is a larger motor but still with plastic gears.( can't just replace the gears). They are making the machines different now but the upgrade does not convert the previous model to the current model. Therefore, I have a $700 boat anchor. No solution from the company. Just $256 each time the plastic gear strips. Sure wish I would have seen many of the comments posted on other sites first. I will never buy anything from them. They are no help. They even admitted they changed the design because of the failure rate. Good for them, not for me. Pay a little more and buy a quality tool.

I was angered and frustrated by the run around I received from Shop Fox when I attempted to resolve a problem requiring a technical question and possibly the purchase of a spare part! I definetly needed consumables(sandpaper rolls). ShopFox told me to contact my "Authorized dealer", which in this case was supposedly Amazon! Amazon customer service had no clue, no info on service parts or sandpapers available! After numerous discussions with various customer service people at Amazon, they called ShopFox and got the info for me and the issue was resolved! The lesson is, do not purchase ShopFox from Amazon, since they cannot service you, nor do they have the data to do so! ShopFox will only tell you to purchase their product from the handful of dealers listed on their website, some of which I am familiar with and would never do business with! I have 3 ShopFox machines......they are my last! I will never buy that brand again! I love Amazon, but they should not sell something they cannot service!

A solid, hefty machine that does what it's supposed to do. I needed assistance getting it out of the truck and into place in my workshop, but all that weight helps the sander do its job. Takes 16 amps; I don't try to remove a lot of wood in a single pass. Changing the sandpaper strips is easy. Dust collection is no better or worse than any similar dust-maker, which is why I keep abrasive machines in a room separate from my workshop. My only real complaint is the the gears which run the crank that elevates and lowers the conveyor belt slipped out of contact with each other the first day. The fix for that is a little convoluted (there's a brief paragraph about it in the manual), but it works. The manual is thorough, particularly about maintenance and replacing worn out parts. Glad I bought this machine.
