Why these levers aren't offered as standard equipment on road bikes I'll never know. I added cable-operated version on a bike that had rim brakes. I liked them so much that I added this hydraulic version on my bike with hydraulic disk brakes. It's great to have a second option for braking, especially in panic stops.

I needed upper brakes for my new road bike and these Shimano Sub Brake set did the trick. Brakes work well, plus they are small and light. I would highly recommend this product.

Coming from a BMX background, this lever is a game changer. I put it on a Marin gravel bike and it fits perfectly. The lever is short, perfect for one finger, so it stays out of the way when not in use.
