We entertain at our house a lot which usually involves appetizers and treats. I ordered these riser stands to use on our center island for our parties.The metal stands are very strong and are sturdy. They do not wobble at all. I also like the black color - it is neutral so it goes with any decor. The design is very modern and fun to look at.The issue with using these stands is that anything you put on top of them can slide off very easily.I tried putting several of our platters and trays on the stands, but they just didn't fit like I was hoping they would. I need to find other plates or platters that will work with these riser stands. The platters and trays I put on top slid off the stands way too easily, making it difficult to remove food from the platters without toppling everything over. I'm hoping to find a tray or platter that has a short foot underneath so that part can sit inside the opening (be recessed) at the top of these risers. That would help to prevent the trays from falling off so easily.Another way to improve these risers is to put silicone bumper pads on the top of the metal. These pads sort of "grip" whatever tray or platter you put on top, and that helps trays from sliding off - at least a little bit.Until I find a dish that will nestle into the opening at the top of these riser stands, I'll end up using them as plant stands instead. I'll just drop a potted plant into the opening at the top of the stands.I think the overall look is very nice, but these stands just aren't very functional for trays or platters as they are, and is the reason for 4-stars instead of 5.
