We have purchased five AirLine 88 fitness microphones for our yoga studio over the past 4 years, attracted by their truly wireless design, top reviews, and prior experience with it at other studios. Unfortunately, our experience has been disappointing. The first microphone in 2021 failed immediately and had to be exchanged. The replacement had subpar sound quality despite using a brand-new BOSE speaker. After two years, it died due to an irreplaceable battery issue. We bought two more: one worked well, the other failed within two months. Its replacement now won't charge and has inconsistent sound (also less than 2 months in)Only one out of five microphones has consistently met expectations. The inconsistency and lack of replacement parts have been frustrating. We hope Samson addresses these issues to improve product reliability.

Wife loves it is just a headset. Old system we bought had a pack and cable kept failing and causing static on the system. No more issues with that. She loves it.

I know people give this bad reviews because they don't like the headset, but it just may be it's the wrong one for their use. I lead group strength classes and I've used the Airline 77, 88, and 99. I think Samson headsets are the best bang for the buck and their service reps know their products! The headset on the 88 is the most stable headset I own. When I'm on my back on the floor the transmitter on the other headsets sticks out too far the back and it slides on that bar it's attached to. Whenever that transmitter pack hit the floor when I was supine, it pushed the mic away from my mouth so no one could hear me. In time the transmitter on the lighter headsets got really loose and the whole headset would slip off. The 88 took a little getting used to, but it does have some adjustment and once I got it set right it held to my head perfectly. The adjustment took some work, but if it's too easy to adjust, it's going to "un-adjust" easily when you're doing more intense floor work. It's so much more substantial and the whole thing fits right to your head for stability. Just knowing my headset isn't going to come off when I'm on my back and I'm pressing a Volkswagen over my face (ok, maybe I'm exaggerating a little...) the fact that I can keep cueing and not have to worry about the headset getting pushed off was worth getting used to it. And I did. And now it's the only mic I use for strength training, x-fit, boot camp classes. I'm not saying it's right for everyone, but don't count it out completely if your class requires a lot of floor/ground work.

Overall good product. I'm a fitness instructor and it is great to not have a cord or something you have to clip on to your body - you are generally free to move - except sit ups where you might crush the transmitter. Only downside is the headset is hard case so it doesn't adjust well to your head and I find the "scan for best frequency" function doesn't actually always land on a working frequency, so I have to re-set it several times to get it back to a channel that works with the headset.

I previously bought the Samson Airline 77 several years ago. Unfortunately, the N1 frequency got bought out by the cellphone industry and it was rendered unusable. Since I liked my old Airline 77, I decided to stick with Samson and upgrade to the 88x, in order to be able to change frequencies. The unit itself was perfect, but the headset was beyond awful. The fit was so rigid that it hurt the side of my head and I was unable to shape it so it would stay on my head. The slightest movement would make the headset slip off. At the end of my classes on Day 1, I packed it up and exchanged it for another Airline 77. The terrible design of the headset is just not worth it.

I sit in front of a camera and make how-to videos. I like using a unidirectional headset mic because it reduces room noise so well. I wanted to find something to replace my Shure WH20 headset mic and thought this wireless Samson would be more comfortable to wear and eliminate the handling noise I get from the Shure. Unfortunately, I do not like the way this Samson fits or its sound. The transmitter does not fit snug to the back of your head. Instead, it protrudes outward a few inches, and I don't like the way it looks or feels. I don't like the sound either. Too boxy and too much bass. My voice sounds much clearer on my Shure WH20, so I guess I'll continue to use it. That said, this Samson could work well if you're not overly concerned with sound quality and you don't mind having somewhat bulky hardware on your head.
