This is a simple, durable adapter for sailboat capstan winches. It fits my Harken winches perfectly, and when coupled with a cordless drill, makes winching a breeze. Just don't drop your nice drill in the water! Good buy!

This is as-cast 316 stainless steel. Nothing is polished or machined but it fits my winch perfectly. I don't know the brand/model of the winch but it is on a heavily built 27' sailboat. It is also the same size as a couple of deck plates on the same boat. I never had an extra winch handle on my old sailboat, but I now have this and a T-handle as backup to the main winch handle.My boat won't be back in the water for at least another 5 months (it's winter here in MI) but I can't wait to use this little adapter. I use my winch to raise my mast, with the help of another person, a gin pole, and a turning block. This might save some time and effort.I'm not sure about the value. $20 seems a bit steep for a piece of this size that doesn't require any additional finishing or machining. I do not know how hard these are to get, so perhaps it is more unique than I'm giving it credit for.

This is a hard to find drill adapter for most standard sailboat winches. You will need a 1/2-inch drill to fit the large faceted shank. I think it works best with a right-angle drill to give you the best grip and leverage. It's also useful for opening or closing plastic deck plates that are installed in areas where a winch handle doesn't fit.
