Our RV is parked below the septic tank, and having to pull it uphill to dump it is kind of a pain. This macerator is an easy solution. The tank is about 8' higher and 120' away, which is close to the limit for this pump, but it's working like a champ. I am using 1" hose to make the pumping easier on the unit. The macerator warms a little bit, but not enough to be concerning. The pump attached easily to the waste outlet, and is pretty straightforward to use. I haven't had issues with it shutting down from overheating or running dry, but I keep a close eye on it when in use. I ran 12v power next to the waste outlet so that it's simple to plug in. I'm happy with this macerator, it's made a somewhat unpleasant task a lot less unpleasant.

This took me a little while to review because I wanted to actually try it out first. When I tested it on my bench hooked up to a bench supply, I was reading 18A. The motor was rated at 12A, so I didn't want to go based on guesses on how it would work. I'm also taking that with a grain of salt because it's not under proper load conditions at my bench. A real test is the only way to really know.We picked up a large-diameter hose which is going to specifically be used for this and only this. Our motorhome's house battery is literally right next to our drain, which makes it super easy for us to power the pump. The flare on the macerator's brass fitting to the hose was such that it failed to engage the rubber seal. I honestly almost took a star for this, but it was a terribly easy fix and is arguably just as much the hose's fault. I added a second rubber seal between the fitting and the hose, and everything sealed up after that. As such, I strongly recommend using the flush out with clean water to double check all connections and make sure nothing's leaking before pumping out the tanks.Concerned with the earlier 18A reading, I paid attention to the motor's temperature- and even while it took a while to actually empty the tanks, the pump only got slightly warm and had absolutely no issues. It never shut itself down during the entire process. While this does take longer to empty things when compared to the standard methods, this opens new methods and possibilities which are going to make life a whole lot easier. Now that I know this exists, it seems like an absolute basic necessity.

Recently I purchased my first rv not to long ago and since then it's been a adventurous learning process to say the least. One particular piece was the sewage container along with the process of extraction and disposal. What made it simple was this direct attached macerator pump to the sewage disposal line. It was able to directly attach itself to the other heads disposal line. Maceration is the process of chopping solids into small pieces, normally this is done when pumping sewage. This was entirely new to me and I took it that everyone had to do maceration for their boats, rv etc...It was somewhat true that maceration needed to be done but the consumer has several options, with one being the option to pump the sewage and have someone else do the chopping along with a service fee and what I learned is that by doing your own pumping your able to dispose and get some advantages because of it.The pump itself I feel is a great modest pump for sewage and perfect for my setup...obviously you can get much larger n powerful pumps for top dollar, but I would say it all depends on what it's being used for. (Super yacht vs. a small cruise boat). For me n my setup this is perfect and a great value I feel like because of the overall specs and design of this macerator pump. What I felt was a benefit was that it's portable n lite and works off 12v DC.This is great because I have a decent solar setup already and it was just tapping into that system for this pump to work and at any time. A great feature that I normally didn't see on all chopping pumps was the direct water line quick attachment to the chopping portion of the pump. This really helped during the chopping process to actually have it pulled smoothly and when the chopping was over, I would continue to let the water spray over the blades so that when I unhooked the pump the after cleaning was actually be quite minimal. When the chopping was heavy and for continued use the pump would get super hot, I feel that's completely normal because of the higher stress or larger work loads then normal. If under long periods of stress or load I would actually give it a break, I don't feel pushing it to its limits would help and that alone can have it out of service sooner, then a non stressed motor. The pump itself does a great job, it takes in little over 3 cups chopped stuff per second, given that you don't have any foreign items lurking somewhere inside. It does a fine job of chopping and pumping.I believe this is a great quality macerator pump and for the most part this would actually be just right for majority of people, it does a great job and decent performance in general, the value overall is spot on because this will avoid certain fees and open up more disposal sites then actually have other pump n dump for you, it is a pain in the butt but when having a RV in general is expensive and bottom dollar really counts, any way to save I feel will not be overlooked or ignored specially when it's a low cost solution.

I did not know what I was getting into when I ordered this macerator.Ya. I understood it ground up waste. But I didn't know it would pump uphill (10 feet elevation).I didn't know that the effluent would be pumped out under pressure through a 1 inch or slightly smaller hose. (Up to 150 feet!)I didn't know it would allow me to pump into a septic or city sewer line.I DID watch a few videos and read a few websites since the manual that accompanied the macerator did not cover those features.A dedicated hose is necessary for pumping out through. I'll be looking for one to complete the kit.I'm undecided whether I want to pump into my septic tank. Our camping experiences are boondocking where camping is permitted such as national forest. At the end of our outings, we go to an RV park where we can dump our black tank via gravity and 'stinky slinky'. We can dispose of trash and refill fresh water. All that for a few dollars is a bargain and we are ready to go again.I found out a friend of mine dumps into his septic tank with a macerator.
