Handy item I do keep in my truck for soldering and limited welding protection. The blanket actually will catch fire if enough slag hits it but it takes quite a bit.

No welding for me. But lots of brazing. In the past I’ve used fire bricks on top of wood. Although it always worked the fire bricks transfer a lot of heat. Someone the wood gets very hot. In order to test the blanket I found a small piece of 1/4” steel, that I covered with a fire brick. Then I torched the blanket. The blanket did not burn, there were flames coming off the blanket, probably chemicals burning. They were not a problem. Interestingly I felt heat reflecting off the blanket. Immediately after stopping, I took off the blanket and tested to see how hot the brick was. I could touch the brick and the steel below was cool.If it does reflect heat brazing should be easier due to heat retention.

It's kinda weird to review a welding blanket. It doesn't catch on fire, so it works! I suppose a welding blanket could be "too heavy weight" and annoying to use, and one that's too thin and light may not stay where you need it to while you're welding and grinding, so in that regard I'd say the thickness and weight is on par with what I need it to be. The size is good, too, for the projects I work on. I can't imagine needing something larger than this- my sparks don't fly THAT far. I have NOT tried it for brazing, so I can't tell you if it's acceptable in that regard or not but for a "welding blanket" it definitely does the job for a lot less money than anything sold by "red" or "blue".

Really happy with this soft carbon fiber/felt Welding Blanket that we're using as fire retardant mats under our portable oil lamps and other open-flame heating and lighting items! The 12x12 pipe cloth (with snaps) fits perfectly flat under our Vesta Heater/Stove and the 36 inch blanket can be cut to fit. Will be looking into making "forever" wicks after seeing the carbon fiber used in a video.

I was looking for a heat shield for my Inline Duct Fan that I recently installed behind my bbq grill to suck out the smoke while grilling. The Exhaust Fan works really well, but I was afraid that the heat from the grill would damage it, since the back of the grill touches the fan. While browsing Amazon for protective heat products I came across this welders type of blanket 2 piece deal and thought it would be perfect for what I wanted to do, so I ordered it.Once it arrived it came with a large blanket and a small welders square mat that protects the area you are welding from splatter. I like the fact that I could use the large blanket for my heat shield and also have the mat for my welding machine. It was a win win situation for me. The blanket and mat are very thick almost like a felt fabric that does shed some. The blanket is large but can be folded. The mat has two eye holes and snaps rivets with a cut opening. Using my bbq grill and exhaust fan works great and keeps the unit cool inside not burning the plastic motor.

Not enough welders use welding blankets as liberally as I do. They are an important safety measure to take when you are working on metal in proximity to other metal that you shouldn't get sparks or heat on. The Rupse 2PCS Welding Blanket set offers an excellent mix of sizes, catering to different welding scenarios. Sometimes, you need a tiny blanket to fit into tight spaces, and other times, you need to cover a broad area like an engine compartment. This set includes both a 20" x 36" blanket and a smaller 12" x 12" pad, making it versatile for various tasks. One of the critical aspects of welding blankets is their temperature rating, and Rupse doesn't disappoint. These blankets are rated to withstand up to 1800°F, providing high-temperature insulation and peace of mind. The significance of this temperature rating cannot be overstated. Inadequate protection can be worse than no protection at all because it gives a false sense of security. With these blankets, you know you're well-protected, allowing you to focus on the task without constantly worrying about stray sparks or heat damaging nearby components. The large blanket is particularly useful for general protection in an overall area. When I'm working near an engine compartment or another sizable project, I drape this blanket over the entire area, ensuring that nothing gets inadvertently scorched or damaged. It’s a simple yet effective way to safeguard your workspace and prevent accidents. On the other hand, the smaller pad is perfect for more detailed work. It fits into tight spaces and can even wrap around a pipe, providing targeted protection where you need it most. This flexibility is crucial for various welding tasks, making the Rupse set a valuable addition to any welder's toolkit.Using these blankets has given me peace of mind at an affordable price. Safety equipment can often be costly, but Rupse offers a cost-effective solution without compromising on quality. The blankets are made from durable, flame-retardant fabric, ensuring they hold up well under repeated use. They are lightweight yet sturdy, making them easy to handle and position as needed. One of the aspects I appreciate about these blankets is their practicality. They are easy to store and transport, which is essential for someone like me who often moves between different projects. They fold up neatly and don’t take up much space in my gear bag. This convenience means I always have them on hand when I need them, without adding significant bulk or weight to my equipment. The Rupse 2PCS Welding Blanket set is a reliable and practical solution for welders looking to enhance their safety measures. The combination of a large blanket and a smaller pad offers versatility for different welding scenarios, while the high-temperature rating ensures robust protection. At an affordable price, these blankets provide excellent value and peace of mind, making them a worthwhile investment for anyone serious about their welding work.

I love this combination with two different sizes and styles of welding blanket. The small 12x12 blanket has a split in the middle to fit over a pipe, protecting the surrounding structures while making a pipe repair. I know that will come in handy. (I once tried to use a torch to heat up a stuck water faucet on the side of my house and nearly had a serious problem. When the plumber arrived he had a blanket similar to this and so he was able to safely fire up the joint and repair the faucet without burning my house down.). The larger blanket, which is much larger than the 12x12 blanket will be helpful to protect the grass or floor below whatever I am welding.
