These stoppers are very dense (in a good way), and are the proper size. My plan was to drill two holes in the stoppers, however, I have never drilled through dense, thick rubber before. After reading up on how to drill the holes, I realized it requires a few tools and methods I've not used before; (a "hollow core" drill bit, freezing the stoppers", a drill press, and a method to hold the stoppers securely while drilling at low speed).Due to the "extra methods" required, I figured out an easier way to do my project. I will probably find a use for the stoppers in the future, but I should have looked into the methods for drilling the stoppers before ordering... Live and Learn !

As long as you know your sizing these are good use corks but I would use them in industrial and not food based product use. The smell was overwhelming and didn't know when they would wash off or if that would impact something like using it as a stopper in a carafe for water

These three rubber stoppers fit into my new German made Corning flask.Just a note Iif you're ordering a bunch of different stoppers for a large project: cork stoppers use a different sizing system than rubber stoppers apparently. Luckily my flask had "7 stopper" written right on it from the factory. That's the RUBBER stopper size.Anyway, this squishes down about 2/3 into the flask's neck nicely. I'm just using this to stopper boiled water for a sonoluminescence project. Some stoppers can fit too well, then if the liquid inside the flask cools it will suck the stopper into the flask completely! Lol, I think these will be ok.The stoppers didn't feel or smell unusual...although they do have that tire store smell, it dissipates rapidly. Sometimes you'll find a stopper that is greasy, like the rubber is breaking down toa sludge or something. Coming from working on a plasma fusor demo model I'm used to silicone stoppers, but these also seem nice and inert.Yep, good old non-descript stoppers. No drama involved. I just realized I should have been a writer paid by the word instead of a stupid librarian: Stopper = good. You get 3 of them.Michael from DetroitScience and optics
