the chain itself is light duty so i wouldnt rely on this for longer periods in sketchy areas. key must be in for it to lock. good for quick stops at convenience store or where bike theft isnt a big issue. chain is shorter than it appears so dont plan on locking to things bigger than bike racks or street signs.

recieved the chain, discovered chain is 2 foot 9 inches long, and combined total is 2 foot 11.5 inches not counting the steel rod to lock in. ( by the way 3.2 foot is 3 foot 2.4 inches).
