If you mount your network gear vertically on a wall (ports on top), it is likely that a good amount of small debris has made its way into your router's and switch's innards. The dust from drilled drywall, tiny little screws, clippings from cable ties, and more can cause real damage to equipment. These little plugs are handy and an affordable way to protect your gear. As they are not particularly malleable, they are often difficult to get into a port, specially in tight spaces between cables. But as a result, the plugs will never fall out on their own. At coins a piece, keeping a bag of these around your server is a bit of a no-brainer.

We use them to keep dust and dirt out of switch ports and network drops. They fit nicely and the yellow makes them visible even in poorly lit network closets.

Quite a simple device. Used them to close some bad ports that were blown out by an electrical storm. Works like you would expect and they have a nice snug fit.
