It's ridgid. It's beefy and built to last. I really wanted a chain vise but needed something quick so this was it. I love it but it's only so big and that's obviously it's only limitation. It can grip like nothing else and be delicate too.

It's okay, but way doesn't RIGID make soft jaws (nylon) that can be swapped out, as the co.does for some of their other vices? I'm spending a ridiculous amount of time milling my own, as the teeth are so sharp and deep that they destroy any thread or finish, and cut deep grooves into softer metals like brass and copper.

To make a long story short, I recently purchased a Ridgid pipe cutter and a pipe threader to do some home decor projects and these things are top quality. I also paid a pretty penny for them too. I opted to buy a POS (piece of s***) chinese knock off pipe vice and paid about 50 bucks. When I recieved the knock off pipe vice, it felt heavy, solid, and I thought to myself I saved myself about 100 bucks. I quickly learned this was not the case. The handle was poorly constructed and the pipe would move around in the vice while threading. This would leave teeth marks in the pipe. I was finally fed up to here with it and I decided to order the Ridgid 40080. Man did I learn my lesson. Not only is this thing solid, but it really holds the pipe like nobody's business. Ridgid makes good stuff and I feel like a schmuck for spending that intial $50 when I should have gone Ridgid all the way.
