I'll be honest, when I pulled what felt like hallow aluminium tubes and sheer faux tent material out of the package along with shoddy plastic and *really* bad directions - I wasn't having a lot of hope for this thing. "You get what you pay for" sort of thing. But after I put it together, I can say for sure this thing can stand up on it's own pretty well - I imagine people having issues with making it stand up straight might not have twisted the tubes around and pressed at the top corners to make sure the tubes were in the slots all the way. You really have to do that or it will be off center and kinda weak.I can say that, yes, it can hold a lot of weight - no, it's not meant to hold that weight for a long period of time. You ever take one of those thin hallow metal tubes and just snap them in half with your hands? That's what these are. They will give and sink after a period of time and the entire unit will most likely warp. This hasn't happened to me, but I can tell from the material that if I kept a lot of heavy stuff on it, it will. For what I needed it for, it's great. Lots of stationary, medications, stuffies and computer parts, games and a lot of gum (don't judge me). So if you're not planning on loading it up with books for a year and half, I would say this is worth the price. If you have numbness in your hands or your dexterity is low in the fingers, however, you will probably need help putting this together, just a fair warning. A know a lot of people like this, so it's important to me that people know that.

Flimsy to build making it difficult to construct. Light and Easy as advertised; little Miss Stability may require a molly or two on the wall behind her. Good for light reading fare, and perhaps transients on-the-go.

I’m changing my rating from 4 stars to 3 because after a year the fabric has started to tear and I can tell it’s not going to last. The frame seems to be in good shape and sturdy so it’s not all bad.

This thing WORKS! I was looking for a lightweight shelf that would be super easy to move later, and this really fit the bill. It arrived in a tiny box the size of a board game and weighs easily less than 10 pounds. Assembly took 30-45 minutes with no tools (just push the plastic together, don’t bother with the mallet). For the vertical assembly, I used the back of a screwdriver once both plastic plates were in place to smack everything down into place. As shown in the photo, comfortably stores books on every shelf plus a stack on top. The support bars ARE metal, not plastic as another reviewer stated, they’re just really thin but fairly sturdy. Once everything comes together it’s actually quite rigid. And dirt cheap. Highly recommend, I may buy another to put next to this one.

I only write reviews when I feel it would be helpful for someone whose on the fence. I ordered these shelves and the first order dissapeared somewhere in transite never arriving to me - the second ones came but I hate them. It's very flimsy, hard to assemble correctly because it's such cheap material and my frustration alone was not worth the buy. But honestly the materials this thing is made of would at best be good for stuffed animals or super light weight clothing to store. It's not sturdy enough for books or a lot of items. The fabric and pipes are super thin and I'm super disappointed in the quality of it overall. :( I loved the way it looked and sounded but I'm going to have to say 1-2 star.

This shelf unit was quite surprisinging in many ways. First, it came in a tiny box which left me in disbelief that it would become a large shelf. It took about 20 minutes to assemble and is fairly easy to do.Pros:- Stronger than the individual parts for sure. Actually holds a good amount of weight and items without showing signs of strain- Very slim and small packaging. Light weightIndifferent:- I'm personally not of a fan of the gaps in the fabric between levels, but some people may like the open feeling.Cons:- The edges of the steel rods can be easily damaged by using the accompanying wooden mallet. The mallet is cute but you should be gentle with it. But I honestly didn't feel like I even needed to use it.Overall, This shelf fit the bill. The parts seem cheap and light weight, but make for a decently sturdy shelf when put together.
