Like a lot of folks, I got the adapter in a small box with an Allen wrench and no instructions, or anything to indicate the adapter needs calibration before use.Found a brewing supply store to fill the bottle. After a few rounds of "Why won't this thing WORK?!" I went and read the reviews to see what I'd missed. Turns out that little wrench is super-important.So: Snug the adapter onto your bottle and insert the wrench into the hollow center of the outer pin. Sloooowly wind the inner pin down (it took quite a few turns in my case) until it engages with the release pin on the bottle. You'll start to hear a slight hiss.Done!Back the screw off 1/4 to 1/2 turn, install the whole assembly in your fancy soda siphon, and enjoy fizzy water at a significant discount.

The adapter seems well made and sturdy. The center pin had backed out on mine and was found rattling around inside the small bag (in the box). There are no instructions of any sort, but it is fairly self-explanatory if you think how it needs to work and check out the other video review for a good image. The smaller center pin slides inside the larger center pin, which threads into the adapter and is snugged up against the top, THEN the smaller center triggering pin is adjustable to the correct height to trigger the valve on the CO2 canister. :-/Hint: since my center pin was not installed I wasn't sure whether the small 1.5mm hex wrench was used to slide the larger threaded pin up and down to adjust. In case yours also arrives loose, the larger screw must be backed all the way out to be tight up against the inside of the top of the adapter using the wrench, THEN the smaller triggering pin needs to be lowered to engage the valve pin on the bottle. If you tighten the bottle in the carbonator and it begins to leak before it's seated, you're too deep, remove the bottle and back the center pin screw out with the wrench a half or full turn and try again. If you seat the cartridge and the button press fails to activate the valve, you're not deep enough, so turn the screw the opposite way until you hit the sweet spot. Also: my supplied 1.5mm hex/Allen wrench was slightly undersized (a common problem with cheap foreign tools). It should have measured just over 0.59 thousandths of an inch, but it was at 0.58 at best mid shaft (which makes a progressively bigger difference the smaller the facets get), so it was slipping in the center pin and I was afraid of stripping it out entirely. Fortunately, I had a good set of metric Allen wrenches that included a 1.5mm hex that measured almost a full 0.60, so I was able to re-install the larger screw all the way up in the adapter properly and then still move the smaller pin down and adjust it properly. This is a great option to bypass not only the usurious price of the standard (old model) SS canisters (even if you swap them) as well as not supporting human rights violations, and much, much, MUCH worse that I can't mention here. Lastly, be sure your CO2 supplier is using "beverage grade" CO2 (the tank will be labeled as such).

It turns out that the pin is screwed into a nut residing in a cylinder with hexagonal inside and threaded outside. Fiddling around, the cylinder and pin both fell out and I was able to figure it out from that plus the fact I have another working adapter. Using the Allen key, you have to get the cylinder screwed all the way into the main body of the adapter by turning the pin + nut inside the cylinder until it is tight. Then you have to turn the pin through the nut to get it to stick out so it can depress the pin on the tank. I suspect if it sticks out to far, it will trigger release of gas as you connect the tank to your soda maker.

When attached to food grade or paintball bottles after filling it can be connected to your Soda Stream filling dispenser & gives you more fills than the bottle that comes with certain model's at a cheaper cost.

I dont post much but this little adapter does work. NO instructions, but others have posted how to do it. Back out the set screw in the top middle of adapter with the allen wrench. Install on the paintball co2 tank - TIGHTSLOWLY turn the allen wrench until you hear a very slight gas flow , back off to stop the flow about 1/2 turn. I connect to a co2 regulator with soda stream threads. DO it FAST to prevent leaks. TIGHTEN. Check for leaks. Ready to connect beer keg and open regulator to set pressure.Make sure the tank O ring is new and coat with keg lube So far I have no issues.

I bought this, adjusted it in about 10 seconds with its included adjustment tool, and it works great. It seems properly designed and machined. It I suspect it will last several decades.I was concerned before my purchase due to earlier reviews, so first I bought another brand. That other one was unusable (they "forgot" the tool, the adapter was not reasonably adjustable, and the even its packaging was ill-fitting and amateur).I'm much happier with this one. I'll update this review if my opinion changes or if I learn something else.
