The treads drive it along slowly but steadily even on dirt. The excavator shovel does go up and down, but it's not really capable of digging much up. Another limitation is that the shovel doesn't swivel as a real one would.It did come with two 3.7V rechargeable batteries and 2 AA batteries for the remote which is a plus. The light on the excavator is nice too.The body is plastic though.
