put it in the paint, started mixing, and the cage came right off the rod and sunk to the bottom of the can. After I fished it out and cleaned it, I reassembled it, and heated up the center and basically melted it to bind with the rod. Seems to work ok, but shouldn't have had to do that

Great for mixing normal latex or acrylic paint. No issues. It is clearly not for mixing up high viscosity paints or mud.

Works great for mixing liquids. For some reason the fins are reversed so it works far better with your drill in reverse. If you are using it in a small container or with something as tin as water then putting the drill back in forward help to avoid mixing to aggressively and cuts down on spilling.

This product is junk, the wheel broke off the shaft when the drill spinning. I didn't bother to return, because I have the glue and tool to fix it. For those of you who don't have the mats and tool to fix it, don't buy.

The one I received was a double squirrel cage design and does not look like the picture(single squirrel cage). Used it about 4 times already to mix paint in one gallon cans, including some thick oil based primer and it worked very well and mixes the paint thoroughly and easily when attached to a drill. Much better than using a paint mixing stick, easier on the hands and wrists.UPDATE: After using this product to mix 6 cans of one gallon paint the squirrel cage fell off and separated from the metal shaft. The shaft is press fitted to the squirrel cage and it seems the manufacturer may not use a strong enough adhesive to hold the two pieces together permanently. Not all is lost though; since the metal shaft and squirrel cage are press fitted together you can use a good quality epoxy glue (I used JB Weld Original) to glue the two pieces back together and it may never come apart again.

Best paint mixer ever ! Fast and complete mixing and easy to clean. Works for gallons and quart containers as well as mixes drywall mud too.

Much better than 3-4 blade paint mixers, seems to pickup paint from bottom of gallon can. Almost as good as the double squirrel cage mixers that are no longer available. Excellent for paint, not for extra thick stuff like drywall mud.

I was using this to mix Secure Set concrete substitute, which has to be mixed very quickly before it starts to cure. It did the job very well. My only complaint was that the stirrer itself came off of the metal rod that it’s on & I had to epoxy it back on before I could use it again.
