It sounds good but like others said, it doesn’t come with the weatherproof style of striker.No problem, you think, I don’t really turkey hunt in the rain.However, if you accidentally breathe on this call or put the striker in your pocket and hike around for 5 minutes, it renders the call completely useless. Any amount of moisture will make it stop working until you find some dry dirt to rub on it or chalk.If that doesn’t phase you, then it works well. It’s very loud and sounds good.

I have multiple slate calls and one i bought for $90.. All of them are collecting dust or are being used as paperweights because the Jackpot slate sounds better and is easier to use for yelps, clucks and purrs.. I have had great success with this inexpensive slate on wise old weary gobblers for a 1/4 of the cost of some other slate calls.. Im thinking of buying another just in case i would lose it.. I also use the primos sharpening stone to rough it up.. seems to work better for me than just using the scotchbrite pad they include with it.. Good luck!

Great call, great sound, and can not beat the price. First time out with this slate, I got the attention of a tom 150 yards away, he came in, and I got a 9 yards shot! Awesome experience. Thanks primos!

This product came in earlier than projected. The call is made from very durable wood and slate. Once out of the box I was able to get it all tuned up for practice with no issues. Amazing and loud sound from this call. After watching a few beginner youtube videos I was able to produce a wide range of calls. Great product!!

I have always been a diaphragm caller, but decided to try a pot call this season. My first weekend out for the Minnesota archery season, I called a mature Tom to 4 yards! If you take the time to practice and learn to use this call, it is very effective. I love the range in volume, tones, and the variety of calls you can make with this call. For the price, I really couldn't ask for anything else. Just take the time to learn the basic clucks and purrs, and experiment with your hand placement on the striker to find the best sound; I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by this call.

The tip of the striker was 'chipped' and broken instead of being 'domed' and smooth. Out of the box, made calling impossible; had to chop off it off and sand into a dome. Should never have made it passed an easy QA check at the factory as it was an easily visible defect right through the packaging.----------Edit: changed review from 2 stars to 5 because Primos has awesome customer support ever and sent me a replacement
