Needed to replace a Mixet valve that started dripping a little, this was exactly what I needed. I would recommend this product.PS: If you accidentally install it upside down like I did so your temperatures are backwards, you can just turn it 180* and resinstall the handle back in it's position as there are no stops to the temperature control.

Looks like old one, but it’s not. The “O” ring is too fat and doesn’t go into body of valve. The ones that Home Depot sells also has the same problem. I have several old Mixit valves in an old rental, none of the new ones fit..they are too fat! Good thing I had an old one that was in good shape.

Fit perfect, brass construction much better than old plastic style. Just be sure to insert cartridge with the red dot up!

This one worked!!! I tried Mixet MXT07 and it wouldn't fit in the valve at all. This Prime-Line MP58045 diameter measured .745" (nominal .75") while the Mixet (BrassCraft) measured .755". Which made all the difference in the world. Also there appear to be two styles of these kind of these post-1968 cartridges, shallow cut and deep cut. Very few people will tell you this, I'm not sure if it actually matters but there is a difference. My old worn out cartridge was deep cut, but the Mixet one I tried was shallow cut. This one arrived deep cut exactly like the picture which is what I needed. It's hard to explain without seeing them side by side but I'm very happy the one I received exactly matched the photos here on Amazon.Installation is not as easy as people say, make sure you watch every YouTube video you can find. Make sure you open the cartridge before installation (counter clockwise) to not crush the rubber washer. And you may have to back the threads out and count them (examine the one you took out) for it to have a longer reach. Be careful and do a lot of research.Note that this cartridge didn't include any instructions, but the instructions that came with the other cartridge I tried were very minimal anyway so it's not a negative for me personally. In conclusion, my condo was built in 1984 and I didn't want to have anyone tear out tile to replace the valve. Now I'm all set for a while. This specific cartridge really saved me!

Original (1969) cartridge finally developed a leak that meant we couldn't fully shut off the water. Replaced in 6-8 years ago not realizing there was a difference in how well these things worked. Turns out the previous one we purchased and installed was junk - it never got fully hot (always had some cold water mixed in), could never get hot water at a very low rate of flow, and it eventually froze so we couldn't change the temperature. Finally replaced it (about a week ago) with this model based on reviews and this one is so much better. Can easily turn the temperature, and the water actually gets fully hot. Took off a star because it's still not as good as the original we had (before the leak developed) in that we can only get cold water with low flows. Not really a big deal, but when I have it on "hot" the water should be hot.

Bought a condo. It came with Mixet cartridges in the shower and tubs. The previous owner some how broke the cartridge trying to replace the handle with a new handle. Totally stripped the brass on the cartridge. Bought this based on what I read online. There are two types of cartridges and you have to make sure you have the correct one.Turned off the water, took out the old cartridge, put the new one in, turned on the water. No leaks. Replaced the handle with the original handle for the cartridge and it worked awesome.

I have no experience with changing out these things, this was my first time. I'm not a plumber and this is just what I did, not advise.I used a big crescent wrench, Philips/Flathead(both) screwdriver, brass brush, putty knife or scraper, Teflon tape, plumbers 90% silicone grease, CLR, gorilla caulk, and a new handle and temp adjuster for the mixet cartridge. Depending on what you have and how cheap you want to go this could as as much as $45 if you have none of the stuff. I'd also say the only two things I felt I had to have was the teflon tape and grease. The crescent wrench could of been done with pliers, channel locks, or any other tool that would latch on.Removal was pretty easy. I turned off the water to the house, opened both hot and cold lines downstairs then did the same upstairs to allow air in the line and all the water to drain out. I used the philips screwdriver to remove the handle, used it to remove the screw in the temp handle, then my back plate also had a screw as well. Once that was off I used the flathead screwdriver to scrape some soap and build up off the mixet cartridge cover so the wrench could get a good grip. Used the crescent wrench to remove the mixet cartridge cover, I would say take note of where the cartridge says up when you remove it or where the groves are in the back so you know to put the new one in the same way or your hot/cold might be reversed. I threw the back plate in some CLR to soak and if you are keeping the handle and temp adjusters I would say it's not a bad idea to get those cleaned up as well. Since I was going to be creating a 50/50 CLR/Water mixture I tossed in the shower head and tub spout as well. Both for me required no tools and just screwed right off with my hand.Next I used a brass brush to remove all the plumber's/teflon tape on the pipe threads and used the scraper to remove any caulk you'll need to redo. Then I wrapped the pipe threads in new teflon tape. To install he new mixet cartridge I first rubbed the plumbers silicone grease on the rubber washer and inserted it in to the pipe in my shower. I was lost for a few minutes trying to figure out the washers and the parts come in a bag with no instructions. Then after looking online I confirmed how the two metal and one plastic washer need to be installed, see the picture. I put them in the mixet cover and then put it over the installed mixet cartridge. Screwed it down until it was tight but still allowed for the tamp handle to move relatively easily. At this point I turned the water back on and confirmed nothing was leaking. I also put the temp handle on but didn't attach it and confirmed the hot/cold side weren't backwards. Washed off the CLR and put the backplane and screwed it in place. Put the temp handle on and screwed it on with the little dimple in the hole on the top of the mixet cartridge. Then screwed on the water volume handle. Last I put a bead of the gorilla caulk around the backplate to seal it up tight. 30 minutes later everything works good as new.
