This modular step fitting gives you 4 distinctive fittings for a variety of hose sizes – ALL-in-one unit. When pulled apart, it reveals 4 separate fittings for 4” to 1-1/2 inch hoses. I bought this to adapt several of my different sized shop vac hoses to several tools and dust collector fittings I have in my shop, and this makes everything work together. A lot of Chinese made dust collector fittings and parts don’t actually fit standard vac hoses, so this adapter allowed me to connect everything I needed.

I bought the adapter to reduce the 4" opening on the dust collection hood I purchased down to the size needed to connect to my vacuum. On the small end, the fitting did well. Nice tight reliable fit. On the large size, the 4" opening is female, as is the opening on the hood. As a result, a nipple was needed to join the adapter to the hood. I solved that problem. For me to use this I needed all the pieces of the adapter. The adapter pieces are only held together by friction and there is not enough of it to prevent the pieces from frequently coming apart. There should be some kind of locking mechanism to keep the adapter pieces together. In conclusion, none of the issues were unsolvable and I am able to use it. But to me, having to solve them was an unnecessary inconvenience.

Needed to step down my dust collection system (1hp Rockler DustRight 650cfm through a Dust Deputy XL & 30gallon fiber drum) from 4" to 1.5" (see photo) and this worked perfectly. Made of nice strong plastic, relatively easy to separate the sections and just plain does the job.

Works perfect on my Dewalt 12” miter saw. Used two of the attachments to meet up with a 2 1/2” Ridgid vacuum attachment hose.

The segments need to be longer. At the 4" end it is difficult to get both wires of the clamp to land on the segment. If it was 1/2" longer this would really help.

I bought this to attach my dust collection hose to a handle which would then attach to a floor attachment. It doesn’t fit anything. These are male attachments not useful .

I bought this as I started interfacing my existing tools to my shop vac and dust extractor. One or more of the fittings always seem to be in use and interfacing new tools is frequently successful. It’s not the only fitting you’ll need, but it’s likely to contribute to many dust collection solutions. I’ll be buying another one just to avoid stopping work and making a trip and continue collecting as much and as often as practical.
