Very nice design. Solid feel. Well built. This looks like a big butcher block but it is not solid. The legs and top are real edge grain wood but the top is not a solid butcher block. It is only maybe one inch thick. This should not be a problem for most users. It is real wood but this would not take the same punishment as a solid butcher block such as using a butchering axe to chop meat and bone.

Beautiful table that falsely advertised as a cutting surface. It says butcher block table top and instructions read do not use as a cutting surface. Priced as a butchers block but it’s a phoney. Fraud alert!

I got this off Amazon and I’m loving it. Good therapy putting it together too. Solid wood and very heavy, love the butcher block top! Really needed some extra prep space.

Love this piece. Gave it 3 stars because one of the legs had a hair line crack that I did not notice until it was almost fully assembled. I paid a handyman to set up for me and I could not just stop job in the middle of it. I will keep it as is but each time I see the crack it really disappoints me! If you buy this item, make sure you check all the legs etc carefully before you assemble. No way to contact seller so I guess I will have to deal with the crack regardless.

So... I donated it. Then the manufacturer kept hounding me about a donation receipt or I would not be refunded. Rude company, will not buy anything from them again.....Top had damaged all over, I can also post another pic of the side damage. obviously sent from manuf. like this not shipping damages... In all honesty, if they used quality materials the item would have been worth it and they would not keep having the same complaint about the “cheap top” and bad reviews.....

I purchased this "butcher block" style island a couple years ago now, and it has served it's purpose very well for storage, extra counter space and a bonus I use the bottom platform as a raised feeding area for my dog and cat's water. It works perfect - I just use a cutting board on it to cut anything which isn't a big deal at all - I want to preserve how pretty the top is with checked pattern anyways. I also assembled this by myself - the top was heavy but I did it without issue.The one downside finally came out this weekend, after 2 years of using it - the drawers are baskets placed in composite wood frames and they have held up very well until one side of the wood frame broke and now I cannot use one drawer. I tried to use a screw to put back together but the wood split. I have been searching for a way to contact the seller for a replacement frame perhaps but there is no contact or customer service to be found. It is a bummer because now it is lopsided looking without the basket. Hoping the seller sees this and has a solution and I will update!

I originally purchased this kitchen island intending to use it for food prep, including as a cutting board. After all, it is advertised as having a butcher block top. However, upon opening the package, the first page of the instructions state clearly that this product should not be used as a cutting board. Inspecting the supposed butcher block top, it is actually carved out on the underside and feels of manufactured wood rather than glued-together solid wood blocks. A major disappointment.That said, the design is nice and if one only wants the look (and not function) of a butcher block top, this serves well. I guess I should’ve known that the price was too good for this to have a real butcher block top.

My husband and I just built this island. It was fairly easy but one does need to get on hands and knees. Although my husband tightened all the screws, the unit still wobbles ever so slightly. Overall we're pleased with it. Aesthetically, it's attractive. It's a good size for my tiny kitchen; not too large but offers enough work space. The quality is ok, not amazing as it's all particle board but it'll do for now. Not sure yet how it will hold up as my kitchen is a very busy one.
