Protects base of mailbox from trimmers! Looks really nice! The larger size fits perfectly around the base of my hexagonal-post mailbox. Easy to install - I did need a little help from a rubber mallet to get the last piece down even with the other four sides. I am very pleased with this product. No more chipped paint around the base of the mailbox.

It works. It matches our mailbox post and protects it from the weed wacker. We had a different kind for nearly 20 years before it cracked. I'm not big on change and wished I could have found one like we had before but couldn't. This will do. Like I said, it works for what it is made for. Easy enough for my hubby to install.

I spent a ton of time prepping and refinishing my deck over the past month. I wanted to cover the base of the posts, that have been chewed up by my weed eater, and found this product. I tried an adjustable metal set first that claimed to expand to cover a 6" x 6" and they just didn't look right. These are specifically designed for a 6" x 6" post, which is ACTUALLY 5.5" x 5.5". Very important to measure before you buy to make sure the dimensions are correct. They can be tricky to install, but it can be accomplished pretty easily by tapping with a hammer. After installing, I went a step further and secured them with one centered black screw per side as they can move around when using a weed eater. Two posts butt up against my concrete walkway, so I simply cut the ends off of two sides and slide them up against the concrete. The black screws hold the three sides nicely. I had to buy a $5 plexiglass cutter to cut the straight edge and it worked great. In summary, these post shields take a little effort to install and really make the deck look great. I highly recommend them and if Amazon is out, you can find them online from Home Depot.

Should have got this or something like it a few years ago. I just needed one for a mailbox post. I’ve been slowly causing some damage every time I run a trimmer and I don’t want to have to replace the post before its time when that is avoidable. Didn’t really know this product existed though until I did a quick search. It seems rugged and it is very easy to install. Just slides together with tongue and groove kind of construction. I got brown one that camouflages pretty well so you don’t even notice it once it is in place. The ad shows a white logo that I thought might be a minor nuisance that I didn’t necessarily want to show (although you probably would not notice once it is in place) but in real life the product did not have that white printed logo so that was better to my way of thinking. I’ve trimmed a couple times since I put it on. Looks like it should do the trick. Seems rugged enough to withstand some abuse. Time will tell. I don’t have to slow down and take as much time trying to not hit the post either now since it has a coat of armor. So that makes the trimming job quicker and easier. Not going out of my way to hit is unnecessarily but if I get too close to post I don’t have to give it a thought now. Next I will probably try a round one for the base of my lamp posts — seems like same manufacturer makes those too.

My gardeners were chewing away at my new mailbox wooden post at the bottom. This guard arrived quickly and is very sturdy. Was not real easy to apply as it fits tight to the wooden post so I have the last piece I put in sticking up because I could not slide it all the way down but it's secure enough it should protect my post. Post was a bit wet from sprinklers when I installed it so will try to slide last panel all the way down when the post is dry and wood shrinks (4x4 post). I would buy it again!

I got a new mailbox installed with a 6x6 post. I was excited to get the 6x6 Post Shield to protect the bottom of the wood post from lawn care damage.Unfortunately, the Post Shield is too small and impossible to fit properly on the post. I measured the post and it is exactly 6x6. The problem with the Post Shield is that when you attach the sides together, it takes about 1/4 inch off each side, making it impossible to fit around the post. Each side of the Post Shield measures exactly 6”. Attaching them together reduces the sides to about 5 3/4 inches. The bottom line is that this product was designed poorly, not accounting for the reduction in size when assembling the product. I wasted $15 for a product that doesn’t fit. So disappointed. My recommendation is do not buy if your post measures 6x6.

It is not for 6x6 post it is for a 5.5x5.5… very cheap looking very thin. Was not worth the purchase.

I thought of this and didn't believe there would be such a thing and there is! It protects my new pole for my new mailbox brilliantly. I hate the chopped up look of mail box poles because of weed wacking and this prevents the pole from being damaged. I will replace it if it becomes shabby and damaged, it was easy to put in, but a cemented pole is much different. What a brilliant idea.

This isn't the easiest to put together. My post is a little bigger and I wanted a little extra room...got the 6inch one. You slide the sides in together, but they would slide down or fall apart putting around post. If I got the three sides around, the 4th one was incredibly difficult to slide in. I decided I wasn't going to use a rubber mallet and force the 4th part in. I put the 4 sides together, and used strong duct tape on the inside on 3 sides to keep together. I then carefully opened up the 4th side and wrapped it around the post. I put the 4th side in, but didn't connect it through the one slide. It didn't need it and was on tight with all 4 sides. It looks great on the post, is secure, and will protect it. It's just 4 thick sides of plastic you slide down to interlock each side.
