Product Description

Pond Champs Black pond dye will transform your pond; giving it a mirror like surface. If your pond is currently muddy it will give the pond a deep dark appearance. Black pond dye is the most popular color used on golf courses because of the natural look. Black pond dye is gaining popularity among residentional and privately owned ponds.

We encourage pond owners trying a pond dye to take a picture before you apply the dye and then another picture the same time of the day 24-48 hours after applying the dye. It is amazing how subtly a dye can transform your body of water.

Directions:

Pour directly into water from shore. Dye will mix throughout pond in 24-48 hours. 1 gallon will treat 1 acre of water 4-6 feet deep. Dye will last approximately 30 days depending on rainfall and runoff.

Important Tip: All ponds will take a dye differently and the same dye can appear slightly different in the same pond from one application to the next. Preexisting conditions in a pond can also alter the way a dye appears. If you apply a pond dye and the tint is drastically different than what is discussed above, there is a preexisting condition that is altering the color of the dye.

Keep Your Pond Looking Great

Dyes will improve your pond’s quality and clarity, while maintaining its color.

This gives my koi and goldfish ponds a cool very dark look. This is the first year I did not have a big problem with string algae because it shaded the 5000 gallon pond enough to discourage it. YEA!!! My husband says it gives the illusion the pond is much deeper than it is. If you have a real clear pond that you enjoy seeing all the way to the bottom, you won't like this. But like many small ponds this cool black look is far superior to the slight greenish looking pond. The fish are visible when the swim up to the surface. It breaks down naturally and has not affected the biofilter. You can buy a small bottle for a great price and if you don't like it the pond will return to its original color in a week or two. I have tried the blues but I think the black dyes look much better.

We use this every year to keep algae from growing in the pond

I love how deep my pond now looks. It only took a small amount to achieve this look and when the waterfall is off the water takes on a mirror like look. Previously this new pond was starting to get some algae buildup. I'm pretty sure this will stop that. We don't have fish in it yet but I believe that this will reduce predation since the fish at the very bottom will be better hidden.

First time trying black pond dye, I usually use blue. Black is supposed to give a better reflective appearance for pictures. I can't wait for the leaves to change colors for autumn.

I bought aqua shade from Southern states last year and it worked perfectly. After 24 hours my pond was blue as expected. I thought I would try this brand because it was less expensive and I also wanted to try black. Turns out I wasted my money. Pawn color did not change.

I used a gallon to dye our pond which is about 1/2 acre. The black dye looked good and helped contain the string algae. The problem was that in about 2 weeks it had totally faded away.
