We already have a couple of these types of budget night vision binoculars, and I was looking for another one for when we get together as a family. These things can be a lot of fun and kids have a blast playing around with them, you can even set up "courses" that people have to navigate at night which is a blast. I would approach this as an entry level budget line so don't expect to get the same results as what you see in a movie or on tv. I also don't think you should consider these goggles because you don't wear them, you hold them up to your face like binoculars. This is an important distinction because these do tend to get a bit heavy the longer you hold them in place. Button placement is pretty good and its fairly easy for average sized hands to change the settings while looking through it once you figure out what each button does - which doesn't take long either. The video and photos come out ok but it's hard to get a steady shot unless you mount it to a tripod and even then, it takes enough pressure pushing the button to at times impact the quality of the shot. If you look at the photos, I included you can see the results of my testing while holding it freehand and I should mention that I have been a photographer for over 25 years and know how to take a steady photo. The night vision works pretty well even though its heavily center focused but still has a pretty good range. In the photos you can see a couple of trees which are about forty yards away from where I am standing, and it was pitch black and cloudy when the shots were taken. If you are looking for a fun budget night vision binoculars, this might be just what you are looking for.

The display is good, but as usual with Chinese goods, instructions are bad and I still can't figure out how to use all it's functions.

I have no prior experience with night vision goggles and so nothing to compare these with. On the other hand my lack of experience was also a test of the ease of use of these goggles. The goggles themselves are not self explanatory. In fact for the first 10 minutes I kept trying to look through the wrong end. However, the instruction manual that is included with the goggles was very well written, fairly brief, and easy to understand. The instructions were well organized so I could familiarize myself with the various buttons and settings and then learned that the viewing end is the rectangular screen, not the binoculars style lenses on the other end.I wish the instructions had been more clear on installing the memory card, as I was sure I was going to break either the card or the goggles as I struggled to press the card into the slot. Thankfully without damaging anything I managed to get the card installed after only a few unsuccessful efforts. Once I was over that hurdle the goggles were easy to use. My main goal was to have a way to see my pasture in the dark, in particular I have a predator fox that I would like to catch in the act. So I went out at night and used the IR setting to take black & white video and still photos. It is pretty amazing to be able to see so much in the pitch black night.I do wish there was a better explanation of the three different IR settings on the goggles. I couldn’t actually see any difference from IR#1, #2, and #3, but I’m sure there must be a proper time or condition for each. I will have to research that further. I should also say that the zoom function on these goggles seems a bit clunky. You have to press and hold the button for what seems like a long time before there is any change in the zoom. Then it sort of clicks from one zoom amount to the next to the next, so instead of gliding through an infinite range of magnification, the lenses kind of bounce from 1x to 5x to 10x (or whatever level of magnification). That may just be the nature of night vision goggles, or a quirk with these goggles in particular. To me it doesn’t diminish my enthusiasm at all. I am going to have fun seeing what I have been missing in the fields after dark, and capturing images day and night. The goggles come with a very nice rigid case, a great neck strap, and the basic accessories (memory card, usb cord, and lens cloth). The only thing you may want is a tripod and the goggles have built in threads to attach a tripod base.

Just got this thing and was so excited to try it out that I immediately took it into my pitch-black bathroom. The photo you see is in a room with 0 light whatsoever and its image of the faucet from 6ft away is crystal clear!! As soon as I capture some wildlife in my yard with it, i'll be back to add some more photos.
