This took makes holding the cam pullies in place very easy. It arrived well packaged and worked just as it should whilst doing the timing belt maintenance on a 3.4 Toyota.

Absolutely a necessary tool, whether you’re holding a cam in place during a timing belt swap, or holding a pulley while loosening the bolt. This makes the jobs easier. It’s a tough tool that will perform great for years to come.

If you're in the automotive trade, you will have to do more and more work into tearing down engines or changing out seals etc. This is a must have if you do DOHC etc. This is an easy, no fuss tool that locks into place and you muscle off the cam bolts or simply keep them steady as you tighten them on. It's a must have tool for any professional auto tech. And lets face it, most shops won't supply you with these types of tools and the expectation is that you have it. Buy it!

The tool is robust, and welds are very good. I had to grind down the 2 posts in order for the tool to fit through and grab onto the slots in the harmonic balancer (which have slots spaced 3" on center) on my 2003 Infiniti i35 with VQ35DE engine, as I was doing a timing chain/water pump replacement, and needed to hold the crankshaft in place while breaking loose the crank bolt . I also have a 2004 4Runner this will work on also (or so I have read), so well worth the cost.

Cam and Crank bolts removed OK. I had this baby chained down and went for it. It worked, but the thinness made me question it. I might weld something to the back of it and put some heat shrink on the nubs just for my piece of mind, but it worked, and I leaned on it and not the worse for wear. At least 30% of cost is only for the tool being unique I think.

Used to remove and install camshaft pulleys on a 2004 Toyota Avalon. The tool worked as advertised without any issue. Note: There are a number of reviews that state that the tool broke when removing pulleys. I am not sure what their situations were but my torque wrench registered over 700 ft lbs when removing the pulley bolts and the tool did not flinch.

This tool is awesome. I used it to hold each of the 2 camshaft sprockets in order to remove the 2 bolts on my 1991 4runner V6. If you are less than 6ft. tall & under 200lb., removing the bolts on the camshaft sprocket can be dangerous & scary. To remove the bolts, I inserted about 4 inches of the red handle of this tool to a 3 foot pipe ensuring that the pipe extends 1 foot past the fender where someone else can hold it safely and comfortably onto the camshaft sprocket while I cracked the camshaft sprocket bolt lose. Seriously you will hear the bolt crack lose & you will see the breaker bar bend so much that you will think it will brake...scary. I used a 1/2" drive breaker bar 18 or 25 inches in length with another 3 foot length pipe attached to the handel also ensuring that it went past the fender where I can safely stand behind while loosening the bolt. Warning: the bolts on 30 year old SUV's & trucks are super tight from the many years that it has been in the motor. In addition, it has been under intense heat for the same amount of years so the 2 bolts will be much harder to remove than to install & torque. It may be dangerous to remove the bolts so I advise to have 1 person hold the camshaft sprocket with this holding tool & a pipe extension while another person removes the bolt with a long breaker bar & a long pipe attached to it. The pipe extension length may varie depending on how tall you are and what weight you are. If you are 6 foot tall and 200 pounds, you will definitely not need to have the pipes in the same length. You may not need the pipe extensions at all. I have also used it to hold the camshaft sprockets to remove the bolts on a 1991 Miata. It wasn't necessary though since each camshaft has a special place to attach a crescent wrench to hold them for removing the bolts.

Great tool for working on my Toyota V6. Withstood breaking the cam sprockets loose (breaker bar with a 3ft cheater handle) and holding the crank pulley so I could bust the crank bolt loose. Then I jimmied it up to hold the crank pulley while I broke the torque converter bolts loose. All in all, perfect tool for the jobs I needed it for. Definitely getting good use out of it. Price was good with Amazon and shipped fast with Prime.

Excellent quality, this tool worked great for changing cam seals on IS300. It was able to grip the exhaust pulley (as expected as that one has holes) but also the intake VVTi pulley (no holes, but the design is so that it fits within the inside groove nice and tight so that you can get purchase on the pulley bolts and stop rotation. This saved me from having to remove the valve covers to put a wrench on the cam to keep it from rotating when I removed the pulley attachment bolts. Worth it!Definitely helps to have the right tool for the job.

This is a very handy tool for it's specific purpose. I used it to perform a crank pulley swap (installed a light weight one) and it worked great for taking off the OEM pulley. Had a friend use a snipe on the end of this unit for more leverage as the handle is maybe 2' long. Had to get creative when installing/tightening the light weight pulley as the holes did not line up with the pins. Had to use only one pin and brace the other against a casting on the engine but it worked. I guess the only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the handle length and because it's not as versatile as other pulley holders with changeable pins and a swing arm to accommodate any hole configuration on a pulley. Great tool otherwise.
