Even after installing, the glass falls apart easily. The hinges aren’t effective and are very loose which makes the glass loose to the point I have to tape them on instead. if you’re not careful, you can cut yourself with the glass because it’s very sharp and unsafely packed. If the wind is strong, the glass will definitely fall. This lateen is not only inconvenient to install and problematic, but also unsafe. I strongly don’t recommend this lantern and wouldn’t suggest buying it.

Nice small porch light but I am worried about his glass being so loose. We will put it up and hope for the best. I do like the look of it but it needs larger fasteners or grooves to slide the glass in. Thankfully I purchased the insurance.

Looks very nice on our front porch. Easy to instal except had to bend the clips to hold the glass.

The "sister" for this came with glass panes well packed that you had to try and mount with poor hardware. This one had panes already mounted with brackets in corners rather than along the sides. I guess the shipping time caused the problem, but lots of tiny glass slivers came out on my counter when I opened package. Nothing for "cushion" between the corner brackets and the glass. Not very impressed.

Pros: lightweight so it hangs well with vinyl type ceiling structure. Could use indoor or outdoor. Not fully enclosed, easy to change a bulb and no bugs getting stuck, keeps clean.Cons: It’s not as large as you might want for a main front porch light.

Everything about the Smeike lights that I have reviewed including this one say quality. They are heavier and feel more solid than many other lights which means to me they didn't skimp on materials/steel. The finish is done very nicely and there are no unsightly seams or screws holding them together, that you see on other fixtures. The water glass is nicely done with no noticeable flaws and cool looking. I like how water glass reflects the light. I have not installed this light nor am I an electrician so won't comment on those aspects. What I would say is I would have no issue with this light hanging on my porch or patio.

I am collecting outdoor pendant lights in various styles to hang from a large backyard tree. This requires re-wiring, so this fixture has yet to be hung. Still, the quality is instantly apparent. The metal parts are well molded and nicely finished. The seeded glass of the shade is a wonderful detail which diffuses light and gives the fixture a high end look. The style is classic and versatile but also feels as if it came from one of the high end lighting companies. There is no discernible difference, which makes this fixture an excellent value.
