Opteka 420-800mm f/8.3 Super Telephoto Zoom Lens

Opteka 420-800mm f/8.3 Telephoto Zoom Lens Banner

Surprisingly compact and lightweight for its focal length range, the Opteka 420-800mm f/8.3 Super Telephoto Zoom Lens excels on long backpacking excursions, just as easily as it does backyard stargazing, and handheld shots from the bleachers (using fast shutter speeds). Constructed using a simple, digitally optimized optical design comprised of 4 elements in 2 groups, the lens is intended for clear distant scenes especially when atmospheric conditions are favorable, as well as isolating nearby subjects with an impressively shallow depth of field. By eliminating the diaphragm mechanism found in standard lenses, the push/pull design (the aperture only changes with the focal length) provides perfectly circular out of focus point light sources and extremely smooth bokeh. In order to suppress flare and ghosting while maintaining color fidelity, each lens element has had our Super HD Multicoatings applied.

In addition to the lens' durable, lightweight aluminum alloy housing, an integrated tripod collar to minimize motion blur when photographing at slower shutter speeds. The collar is also adjustable, enabling you to adjust the orientation of your camera without having to change the position of your tripod or monopod, or it can be removed for handle-held situations, if desired.

Keeping in the spirit of an all-manual shooting experience, a locking push/pull zoom mechanism has been employed to ensure your chosen focal length and aperture don't change once it has been set. The wide, non-slip rubber manual focus ring has a very long focus throw, which aides in fine tuning your focus more precisely. While the lens also requires exposing your scene manually (either in "M" manual exposure mode or "A" aperture-priority mode), with some exposure know-how "S" Shutter Priority will also work in many daylight situations with Auto ISO enabled.
