Does not fit a 1965 CJ5 without modification. Does look good after it’s done.

Worked great on my 74 CJ5. Really made it pop and it sure is easier to mount and dismount. Lol

Friendly nice customer support who aim to please their customers. I bought these very nice looking side steps for my CJ3A. The center bracket gets attached to pre-existing holes in your frame. The front bracket goes into pre-existing holes in your floor. The step has offset holes so it can be angled to fit the contour of your Jeep. The only tough bracket is the rear bracket, it either sits on top of your hat channel making the step a bit unlevel or you can alter the bracket by folding the area with predrilled holes toward the back so it can mount behind the hat channel and will mount up level. Those are the only holes you drill in your jeep. Each side will need 4 fender washers, 4 flat washers, 4 lock washers and 4 - 5/16x3/4 bolts and nuts, unless you go through your hat channel and then they'd need to be 2 inches long. They come with hardware to bolt themselves together but not to bolt to your Jeep. The step looks great and seem to be very solid. The step sticks out a few inches but not where as much as a spare tire or Jerry can sticks out. A must have for old Willys Flat Fender Jeeps.

I was hesitant about buying these based on earlier reviews, but went ahead and bought them. First of all, if installed correctly, they are super strong, but you have to do it the way they were designed. My friend who weighs 280 uses them with zero deflection. As for the earlier review where they had to re-drill the holes, this is wrong, the CJ Jeeps taper in right around where the steps are installed, so these different slots allow you to put the step at a slight angle, one way for drivers side, other slot for passenger side. My 1962 model has holes for mounting already in the frame as well. You can assemble as a drivers side and a passenger side, don’t tighten bolts, fit them up and mark for holes, drill and assemble. Then tighten everything up. The toughest part is removal of the fuel tank before install of drivers side. Don’t let people tell you they are junk, they are just fine if installed correctly. And for the size, yes, they are big, but this is the exact size that have been installed on Willys Jeeps since day one, so if you are going for correct look, this is the way to go. Good Lick.

Takes a bit of creativity to install but came out super solid.

I had to retro fit for my 73 Jeep but finally was able to get them installed with different braces I had to repaint them because they were scratched up when I received them. They give me the look I wanted but you have to work to get them installed

First off the support rails are thin and cheep made. After the install I had my son Who is only 72 lbs step up onto the step and the support bar bent down with his weight. At first I thought I had put the supports on wrong but there is only one way they can go.I had to fabricate new stronger supports for the step pads and trash the ones that came with the kit.The step pads are ok but there again very thinto install correctly you will need to make four support rails two for each side. One rail is not enough supportthe pad will bendMy advise would be not to buy this step kit and go with a better made step kitIn the End Money Wasted if you buy this kit
