I bought my very first OGGI liquid dispenser in November, 1994. Then another in December, 1994 because of the high quality and ability of the product to keep my beverages HOT! My1st OGGI lasted over 20 years before it stopped working (and I was alternating it 5 days a week with the 2nd OGGI, to bring my own coffee to work daily!). The second just died a few weeks ago, ALMOST 30 YEARS!!! When I received my new OGGI, a few days ago, I noticed that the new model was packaged with no box, the item was in a plastic bubble bag with some paper around it in a medium size box. When I took it out of the plastic bubble bag I noticed it was very cheaply made. Flimsy plastic silver holding latch, not as heavy as prior model, but it seems all new products are being made less expensive than the original ones. I filled the carafe with hot water, to let sit over night before I started putting beverages into it, went to put the pump in and it doesn’t seal like it should! I didn’t want to force it, so I just put the lid on and lifted the silver latch to see if it would pump any water out and almost broke the silver latch because it’s only plastic! Unable to pump water out, so I left overnight to see if it would leak and sure enough, a huge puddle of water on the counter where my new OGGI was sitting! Now having owned 2 OGGI’s in the past, I am well aware of the fact that you can’t disassemble or immerse in water, so neither of these two things happened. I am hoping that this is just ONE defective item and will be replaced without question! I’m so disappointed right now, as I really miss my coffee every day!

Very useful when power is out ... keeps coffee hot.Usefull for camping and picnicks keeps cold drinks really cold.Highly Recommend.

This is a very good vacuum carafe. We use ours to hold the contents of a 14 cup coffee maker. It keeps the contents warm for hours, and allows us to sip many warm cups of java while reading in bed on the weekends.The only negative is that care must be taken not to cross-thread the lid when screwing it on. Also, when initially pouring your first cup from the carafe, there is a small "whoosh" of air when opening the spout. However, my experience has been otherwise very positive, and I have not experienced what the negative reviewers have noted. In fact, we liked our Oggi carafe so much that we shipped one to my in-laws - and they love theirs just as much as we love ours.

This carafe is awesome!The only downside - it keeps the smell/flavor of the coffee it was primarily used for which in turn adds unwanted flavor to other less strong beverages like hot cider and tea. There may be a method for removing this flavor but I have only washed with warm water and soap.Otherwise, as long as you fill it with boiling water first and let that sit to raise the temp of the carafe before dumping that out and adding the hot beverage you want in there - it stays hot for hours and is a perfect, very easy to use thermos.

Even better than the old one! Adore it and love OGGI.UPDATE 8/22/2014Tab broke on lid, so bought a replacement unit. It wasn't as good as the first one. Didn't keep coffee hot for as long. I contacted OGGI to see where I could get a replacement lid for my old one. Emails were short and sweet. (1)Send of info on what you bought. (2)Send us your mailing address. Replied with address and expected paperwork. Instead, they sent me a NEW LID!! Awesome!!! Used it on new carafe and is great!!! Holding heat so far. :) Love the carafe and definitly well pleased with the company. FYI Lid was here 9 days after I emailed them with my address. Again, AWESOME.

This pot is perfect. Every morning at work I make a full pot of tea and use it throughout the day. If there is any left, I just leave it there until the next morning. The pot keeps the tea warm for twenty four hours. The next morning, while it is not piping hot, it is much warmer than one would expect after that length of time. Another great feature-it is all stainless steel except for the cover so if it is inadvertently dropped, there is nothing to break. Wonderful item!

We've had an Oggi carafe for a long time but it was time for a new one. I like that it has a bigger opening now so there's room to put a brush for cleaning in. It's a great size so we can put a full pot of coffee in it with no worries. The only thing holding me back from giving it a 5 is the lid. Coffee gets in it so you have to be careful when you take it off so it doesn't spill on the counter. The other thing is that you have to put pressure on the lever to close & open and I'm afraid it will break (tip is to press down when turning to take some of the pressure off). Our last one broke after a year and I didn't know to contact the company. They will help you out but mine was the old model and they didn't have a replacement. Even with this shortcoming I really like this carafe.

This is the second Oggi Thermal Carafe (Catalina 68-oz) I have purchased. I still have and use my original carafe at home and like it so well decided to purchase a second to have at the office (my desk). I have found this carafe to be of lesser quality that the original. Both the metal and plastic used in its manufacture seem to be of lower quality and the seal between the metal base and plastic upper will leak. The leak is only an annoyance and not constant. I simply keep the carafe on a paper towel to absorb any moisture that might reach the desk. On the bright side, it does keep your coffee hot longer than some of the other carafes I've used and it holds a full pot (commercial) which is the main reason I bought it.As a side note: I found this same carafe is now being sold at Bed, Bath and Beyond. So, if you have a store near you, you can look and inspect it before you buy. Wish I could have.
