This letter opener cuts on both sides. It’s lightweight and easy to use. I’m usually nervous about letter openers because of the sharpness of the blade. This one is sharp enough for the paper, but it feels safe in my hands. It reminds me of the letter openers I grew up with, sturdy and will last a while. I also appreciate the low price. The price and quality are both perfect!

Not very comfortable for my larger hands. However, it does make fine work of an envelope. It is pretty sharp, but not so much that you'll lop your finger off. I wish the handle was a little thicker, I might do the "hockey tape" approach to thicken it up if needed.

It might be a "tad" on the small side. But the more I use it, the better I seem to like it.It has just the right amount of "sharpness" without being enough to slice into your fingers. It's pretty basic though.It was right at $4.99 when I ordered it. I'd like to say it's more worth about $3.99 however we have had a lot of inflation going on in the U.S. economy!But I'm still leaning towards $4 rather than $5. It works about as you'd expect but definitely doesn't have any "luxury feel" to it. More just utilitarian and gets the job done.It's pretty basic for the price so I knocked off a single star.

...........this is the smallest letter opener I've ever seen (see pics) but it does the job efficiently ! The edges are just "edgy" enough to open a letter easily but not sharp enough to cut you. The handles are thin plastic but the rest of it is stainless steel (won't rust) including the area the handles are glued to. (see pics). If your looking for a "compact" letter opener for travelor just want one that's not very long or has thick handles, look no further. Reasonably priced.

When I opened the shipping package for this I was a little surprised by what I found. I mistakenly thought it would be larger, but that’s entirely my fault and not the manufacturer; the measurements clearly state that it’s 7.5” long, but It just feels smaller in my hand.This works for opening standard envelopes, but it wasn’t overly sharp and struggled a little. I was also able to slice through the tape of an Amazon box without too much trouble, but repeated efforts were required and that’s OK. I tend to use openers for letters, glued boxes, or whatever comes along that needs to be unsealed. Unfortunately I’m now used to a (borrowed) opener that is much more robust, even though for boxes I’ll frequently use one blade from some sheers (stronger than regular desk/sewing scissors) as they slice through the tape and even cardboard when necessary.I’ve been looking for a strong opener similar to one that I’ve borrowed - it slices through of helps pry apart the glue holding some boxes together and works extremely well - but finding one is more difficult than I imagined. Perhaps that’s a sign of the times because I’ve been searching for a while. I guess as the adage unfortunately goes, “they don’t make them like they used to”. The hunt continues.

As I mentioned in the title. this is a nice letter opener, as it certainly gets the job done. It’s double-edged, plenty sharp enough, easy to use, and it came/comes with a plastic sheath for the blade for added protection. Additionally, I think that this item is fairly priced, especially for Amazon Prime members, as you can get it shipped right to your door for roughly the same price that you may be able to pick one up (similar style/design) at a local store etc.To conclude, I am pleased and satisfied with this letter opener, as it definitely does what I need it to do, open letter’s, envelope’s etc., and the protective sheath is a nice touch---Recommended!Please see my pics of this item for a couple of nice visuals.
